Only a $5 freezeout (108 participants) at Titanpoker but it feels good!!!!!!!

Not bad for 3hrs 8mins Effort!!!!

Anyone got any input as to whether there is much more required than winning one of these versus say a 300 person £10,000 MTT over fulltilt????

On another note i have spent a lot more time over this xmas period playing poker and actually sticking to some form of strategy.... Mainly playing the cards that i get dealt instead of trying to read the future... Got a few places in tourneys and now my first win!!!!

:D:D:D

Congratulations on your win!

Unfortunately, higher stakes are much more difficult than the 5 buck buy in events.

However, keep practicing and soon you will work your way up a few buy in levels, and eventually be scoring some huge pay days.

Also, ask questions in the forum (I see your post count is rather low.) Cardschat had helped my game immensely, so if you encounter a tough hand or some strategy question feel free to ask. There are plenty of great poker players here that are more than happy to help.

Cool well i'm gonna sit around the £5-20 buck MTT's and see how i do....

Would you say if i am consistently getting to the final table i should consider moving up the stakes?

I would hesitantly say yes, however for a different reason than making final tables consistently. I would focus more on the money won by getting deep in tournaments so often.

I would recommend reading this: https://www.cardschat.com/forum/general-poker-13/chris-fergusons-bankroll-management-84344/

Following Chris Ferguson's advice you can easily figure out when it is time to "move up the stakes."

I watched JNT for a bit and he went out in 14th I think. His 99 against TT - he hit a 9 on the flop but villain caught a flush on the river.

Congrats

Congrats on your win. I'm just getting into playing regularly myself and I found that my biggest problem was patience.

Yes when i first started playing i used to play suited cards hoping for the flush etc... (Didnt start playing on play money either... :()

But now i have taken on board some of the standard poker strategy of how to play certain hands and it is working to an extent.

Also just bought "Super System" which should hopefully address some areas that i need to work on.

Good luck buddy!

Super System is a must read, but not for your game. It's a must read to understand many of your opponents games. I find the book pretty outdated for todays NL HE. Instead I would read the entire Harrington on Hold 'em series, and Phil Gordon's Little Green Book.
