Women and Poker

I loves the wimmins almost everywhere except quite often at the poker table.

Reason being is that if you talk to them like you talk to Dennis or Tom when Dennis or Tom say something stupid it becomes a confrontation. I'm all for deferring to women because I respect them but when they start S*it and expect to get a bye it pisses me off.

I find that the "good" women players and young male players are usually the most guilty of calling others donkey players and making fun of slower players.


So guess what happened tonight. ahahahahahah

I was at one end of a 8 player table and two women were at the other end side by side. Anywho I had mistakenly put a big blind up, instead of the small. The gun was pointing that out to me and I thought he was saying it was my turn to bet. I responded by saying I was all in.
Since it wasn't my turn everyone folded to me and I called and the big blind and I checked it out and I wound up losing the hand. When I called the one woman after the gun said I had called all in and that caused her to fold. I said "so what?" Then the lecture started. Very snippy. I said " I don't give a sh*t it wasn't my turn."
A little more back and forth and I responded "tough shi*"

The other woman consulted with the TD, also a woman, who ruled that my "all in" should have been binding.

And the TD has been going to Vegas and AC forever.

In my mind I shook my head. And yes the next hand I tilted. Then I went over and apologized for being snippy. All is well in pokerville.


I know it is no no to bet out of turn but I'm sure a bet out of turn is not binding. Right?

According to TDA rules, yes, it should be binding. After you said "all in" the action to you didn't change, so the floorperson was correct in ruling that you were all in.

Verbal Declarations - Verbal declarations in turn are binding. Action out of turn may be binding and will be binding if the action to that player has not changed. A check, call, or fold is not considered action-changing.

that was live or online poker? lots of mens playing at online poker with wommen`s names, that stinks.

Yes, it absolutely is. And I'm sure any player would be annoyed in a tournament setting, especially if you would have been all-in, and knocked out. Would have put them closer to the money.

And I really doubt that misinterpreting someone's comment as to whether it was your turn to bet and then betting is binding. Bet, call, raise, all in, it would seem they all are on equal footing and would be non binding. I've never seen anyone held to a bet they made out of turn.

i think this is a valid argument, women do tend to be a little more ballsy per se...but you also have to remember for all the female members , if it doesnt apply, let it fly.

Easy on the opposite gender imo.

I'll ignore the rest of your post, because I find it ridiculous. But as to this part ^^, yes, it is binding per the rules. Any oral statement is binding. It is true that you may get lucky and have a dealer/tournament director that is not going to hold you to it if you were joking around, but if they wanted to be sticklers about it, they could hold you to it regardless.

I've been at tables where someone jokingly said, "I'm all in", and nearly lost their stack because the dealer called him on it--surprise--the dealer was man. A couple of other CC'ers were there as well. Fortunately, everyone at the table knew he was joking, and the dealer let it slide, since no one cared. Lucky for him, I didn't "use my gender" and get "snippy" and "start sh*t", because I'm a woman.

Sexism! It's easier than knowing the rules.

Any time you treat a person differently based on gender (or color of skin and a ton of other things) it's wrong. Most of the time it costs you. I'm glad you tilted. There should be no difference in whether a player is a woman or man at the table. Your job is to make the plays with the highest chance of winning their money. If they're a woman or a man, I'll play them the same way. Only way it should be imo.

And yes out of turn declarations are binding as has been quoted above.

That is crazy that you seem to think you can separate Women poker players from Men poker players.

i have seen people bet out of turn in a tournament b4 and the td will let that action stand. by betting out of turn, you have potentially affected the actions of others before and after you as im sure you know. in addition as far as the gender remark its just not acceptable to say all women this or all men that or whatever. example....a pro hockey player was recently suspended indefinetly for remarks he made at press conference with no prompting from any media. apparently upset that a woman he used to date, elisha cuthbert of 24 fame, has since dated 2 other hockey players, he made a comment that and i quote, "its been a common thing in the nhl for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds". point is, this is where a comment like yours can lead. starts simple enough and before you know it we are back to women acting like june cleaver. exageration? maybe. maybe not.

Like I said, roughly. I don't see but one post that acknowledges that women use their gender, quite often and quite well TYVM, In life, that's fine with me. But it is not fine with me to get snide and slick then get her feathers ruffled when you she gets back the like in return. Especially at the poker table. The table is level at all times for a reason.

Strict enforcement of all instances of that rule in all levels, check, fold, raise, bet, and all in is specious at best but it it would ruin the "game" being played, turning into whining he said she said nonsense.

Btw when woman says a man is a pig it's OK but when a man says she's a pig it's harassment.

hey guys this one time i was at some traffic lights and i went through a red light. across this junction there was a woman driver who stopped at the red light then moved out when the lights turn green. a police car was nearby and this WOMAN police officer had the nerve to pull me over obviously because she was a WOMAN and PREJUDICED AGAINST ME AND MY OVERWHELMING MASCULINITY and despite the fact this other WOMAN was clearly violating the rules of the road by looking at me in a slightly funny manner or something.

there is a certain degree of irony in the fact that i am spotting the mistake in the phrasing of your post before you are. unless you actually think that all women play the gender card the word you are looking for instead of "some" is "all".

Which kind of makes the gender of the people invovled irrelevant. What with them being right and all.

well as a women i will play and use whatever i can to my advantage to get the win but with that being said if you talk to me like you would john or hairy i will respond back and not get all whiney and crying i can hold my own just like any man but maybe your best bet is when a women sits at your table just get up and walk away oh and your all in call should of been binding you should of been taken out of the tourney on that hand since you had stated you lost it

Obviously women shouldn't be playing poker.

They should be in the kitchen, in a negligee, making me a pie!
