Well fellow Cardschat'ers, I'm on a bad cold streak and I need some good vibes.
My balance has dropped to a pitiful $2.75 total so I was wondering if this was your balance what would you do? (besides re-deposit of course)
Should I go to the 1/2c rings where I could probably do o.k. but you never know the donks you are playing against or should I just try the $1 sngs or maybe a $2 dirty dozen tourney?
I could try the h2h tables as well.
So give me some advice and some good vibes at the same time.
I'll be out of the series until I build my balance back up (or redeposit) so good luck to all!

Freak when I am on a cold streak I will drop down a buyin level or 2 or play a full table instead of the shorthanded i prefer or what works best for me I will go to one of the sites like Paradise or King Solomon where the Fish are & drop dowm a level or 2. 2 or 3 weeks ago I was playing one of our evening buyins with you at the table & during the game it struck me that you had raised the level of your play. Couldn't tell you exactly when or why but observing you since has done nothing to change my opinion. Whatever you did to change your style, philosophy, or whatever keep it up. Good play always triumphs over bad luck in the end. Well, sometimes it does; and if it doesn't, well by god it should. LOL. Hang in there my good man, this too shall pass. See you at the tables. P.S. remember, adversity builds character & while they don't take character at the grocery checkout; well by god they should.

I'd try a $1 SnG. More poker for the money.

But actually with a cold streak, I'd try something else. Something to change your routine and frame of mind a bit. Maybe read a poker book or practice on a poker video game or on play money tables. Maybe watch some poker on TV.

You could even switch sites for a while (assuming you have more BR). Right now, I'm on a hiatus from Titan. Seems to be working, even though I'll go back eventually.

Whatever you do, change what you are doing now. When I hit a cold streak, I had a habit of trying to force the issue. Then I'd get tense and blow more money. A change or a break usually works for me.

Hang in there, dude.

I have to switch to another site and tried my luck at the Sng $1-2 with building back up. I done the free rolls and few times got lucky. Think we all been through that, but don't give up, you'll be back up in no time. I did find out one thing I spend more money in ring games and even the low money tables. Even switched played stud and omaha to try to get back in the groove.

I would suggest playing something other than hold em. I recently play the Stud rign table at pokerstars and more then doubled my money. So, omaha, stud, whatever you think you're better at other than hold em. I won't do head to head. Don't get me wrong, you excellent playing heads up (I should know, you dominated that game when I played against you) but there are some players you may run across that will go all in on every hand and they always catch a lucky flop.

Freak, cant give advice as i'm in the same boat - took out most of my neteller money and left $100 - ran that up a bit on a few sites, but after 7 (Seven) straight H2H $20 SNG losses at Pokerstars to all sorts of wierd and wonderful rivers, i'm left with my entry for tonight and not a lot else. Will have to turn into a freeroll whore if I dont cash!

What I have done in this situation is play the micros until I get a base I'm comfortable with, $5 or $10 depending on the site. Then I make enough over the base to get into a SNG. If I lose the SNG, back to the micros. Really doesn't take much of a streak on SNG's to build up a bit. This is what I did the first time I built my bankroll and also what I have just currently done with my challenge

It is possible to build back up, just be patient and play the 1c/2c tables until you feel like you can throw a few $$ into a SNG. Make sure you have enough to go in 2 or 3 in case you get a bad beat and miss the money.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys.
I know I can always redeposit but I'm going to take it as a personal challenge to build from the $2.75 I have left.
Looks like we have a tie with 2 people suggesting micro tables and 2 suggesting $1 Sng's.
I haven't played since posting so I haven't decided which way to go yet.
I'll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks again everyone.

Redposit.
Neither the micro tables or $1 Sngs are worth your time.
Don't have cash to deposit?
Get a part-time job at McDonalds, or somewhere.
Making $7 an hour at some crappy parttime job will be a HELL of ALOT more than you will make per hour at these tables.
Then ReLoad.

This is all assuming you are a winning player. If not, ignore the above.
Good luck.

Edit to add: I gave you some positive rep to help you build that roll again.

I agree with Fish that it takes forever to build your bankroll up when you start with nothing BUT it is much more challenging and a show of character to build a bank roll from basically nothing. I started with $25 the first time, blew it and then started again with $50. I was over $100 and then back below $30. I have been doing amazing on the $1 SNG and built up over $75 in 14 $1 SNG events (1st, 4th, 4th, 1st 3rd, 3rd, 6 times straight I missed (should have quit after the 2nd miss) then 4th and 1st. The nice thing about the $1 SNGs are that it's 45 person table, so you get $14 for 1st place which makes it very easy to build your bankroll quickly. I am sticking to the $1 until I am back over $100 and then hitting the 45 person $5 SNGs. I follow the 5% bankroll mgmt system and I find I am really earning every cent I get because I started from the bottom.

I guess it comes down to time, patience and how much you enjoy the game.

I know the feeling, was down to .02. I hit the freeroll trail and did pretty good. i'm up to $61 so far.
Playing freerolls really improves your skills i think. And its a good patience builder.

wish i could give you some advice, but i myself am on a deadly streak aswell...
I've lost a few hundred in the last two days of poker playing and have lost alot of confidence.
I don't know if it's variance taking its toll or if i'm playing poorly or what.
Either way the only thing i can do is keep playing and just hope my luck turns around. I might drop down to 1/2 to limit my losses during my cold streak
good luck freak :)

Starting Balance $2.75
Ending Balance $4.02

played a little 1/2c ring, then switched to $1 sng which I won.
Thought I'd quit while ahead.

Forgive the post from a noob, but playing a 1c/2c is a complete waste of your time. I've read some of your posts and can appreciate the "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" mentality, but imho, I think that's a bucket of crap. I'd re-up with another $25-$50 and make your money back without spending 300 hours playing against people who will ride you to the river because you're total pot is $.17. Again, sorry if I'm coming off like a dick, but your time is worth more than a bump up to a $4.75 bankroll.

I don't believe it is a waste of time. I currently doing the same thing and it is about the challenge of building something out of nothing. For me it isn't completely about the money. It is much more gratifying to make $1000 from nothing than deposting $200 a month and every once in a while hitting a $1000. Plus I believe you develope your skills more if you have something to lose and don't just redeposit when you go broke. Sorry about hijacking your thread on this subject, Freak.

Just to let you know, I was reading a blog by Chris Ferguson on the net and he was talking about how he has taken a personal challenge to start his bankroll of $1, and has turned it into $20,000 as of this date (he started this about 2 months ago). The article also didn't say if he was playing ring games or tournaments, although I've never heard of Jesus playing ring games!

Personally, I like heads up or short handed (5-6 players), but you have to play what you feel comfortable playing at and play extra tight for now.

Good luck!

Yeah, here's a recent thread about Jesus' $1 BR adventure. Has a link to a PodCast for ya:
