To day I was in a UB freeroll with 30 people still alive. Did I mention that I was the chip leader! Oh yea! So my wife comes in and tells me I have been playing all day and we need to leave to go to my mothers..:( Ok I know I should realy go and not complain. I mean who cares that I have a great chance at 115B$.
So anyway we go to my mothers and find out that dinner wont be done for another hour... :icon_monk So an hour later, after puting up with my mothers friends (Somebody shoot me:eek:) we sit down to eat. You'll never geuss what happend next... go on guess.... So my mother starts to cut the turkey... Its not cooked! So we eat, np turkey, no rolls, and no damn gravy... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG:thefinger

Great story...I mostly play during the week. I'm lucky I get to ship my wife off for work travel also so there's always a home game.

Tourney Leader

When I am tourney leader....not very often, I live by the creed.....

What family??????

It would be a hard call for me....continue to play or get divorced and disowned???

hmmmm....

I have a different issue with my wife. She supports my poker playing, but I can't let her watch me play online. This is because EVERY PENNY is so damn important. If I lose $2 on a hand it's like the end of the world. Or worse yet, when I fold my J2 offsuit after 3 people raise and call, and JJ2 flops, shes like "Aww.. if you would have just called you would have won a big pot". UUGGG. And of course then I start playing like a damn idiot calling with garbage in case I might hit the flop.

SO I found a solution. NEVER let her watch a cash game. Tournaments seem to be OK because the relation of cash to chips just isn't as strong.

Anyway, feels good to get that out and off my chest.

I am a wife.

I am a wife and I love to play online poker, but family always comes first. I only have one question for you, if you knew you had to go to your mother's for thanksgiving, why did you get in a tourney in the first place. Sounds like that one was your fault not your wifes.

Im am glad to say I don't really have that problem because Im young and unmarried but sometimes my friends come over and I will be in a tourney and they will try to tell me how to play. Thats one of my biggest peeve's is somebody watching me and telling me how to play my cards when I take them out every weekend at our home games.

i had quite the opposite side of things happen to me,i was in a 5 dollar tourney once with about 90 people left out of 900,doing pretty well in 20th place and got a unexpected call for a job.as i had a bad month i couldnt turn it down so i asked my girlfriend who knows very little about poker to take over. she only just knows the hands (what beats what). i told her dont worry its only a 5 dollar tourney if you loose it dont matter just have fun, i come back to find she came 9th winning me $135. what a shock that was ,just goes to show-you never know, if your lucks in what will happen.

lol about the poker gods! it is sooo true!
i had to go to a dinner party that my wifes best friend had invited us to earlier in the week. i had only a few chips left 16000! and was coming 4th so i went all in with every hand trying to lose it all and make the mrs happy and me miserable :(
but do you think i could lose? no way!
the poker gods punnished me by giving me boats, flushes and trips every time i went all in.
eventually i was the chip leader with over 12k lead and told the wife i would catch up with her, and as a consolation she could take my car. (mine brand new, hers beat up)
well what goes around comes around i suppose, i went on to win the tourny :) $125
and when i arrived at the party in my wifes beat up little car she looked nervous :s
i told her i won the tourny and normally she's very happy about things like that.. you know women and money.
but this time she just said "thats very handy"
puzzled by her reaction i looked around the room and noticed that no-one dared make eye contact with me.
my wife looked at me and spluttered " i think it'l cost more than your win to fix your car!"
she crashed it on the way to the party! It was only 3 weks old, str8 off the showroom floor.
needless to say i was devastated and have learnd my lesson. If i gotta go i gotta go. and i'd rather sit out then let my wife drive my car!

My dog does the same, is this coincidental?

In my house I play poker when I play poker.
We have a politic like for example on a Ocean Liner or Jumbo Jet.

There is ONLY one Captain!
But then you got to know, I am European, thats where the Captain usually wears the pants !

OK here is my story, I started playing holdem, cuz the hubby was watchin it on tv like there was a plot to it, he does that with the weather channel too, so im thinkin, this will give us a common thread as we have nothing in common (how it has worked for 20yrs is beyond me) anyways so now im playing all the time and he is teasing me about it all the time when it is bed time, he tells me he has a straight he wants me to go all in on.
sorry nick, couldn't help but share, its tacky i know, I should probably get repremanded for this one

Okay, I must say I don't get the people that are complaining about their significant others playing poker. I think there are MUCH worse things they could be doing than playing cards.

We both play, and it's fun. He tries to tell me how to play, but I can deal with that cause so far, he's pretty much been right. His advice has helped me in my live games, and I've just discovered I'm a bit of a terror at the Pot Limit Sit N Go tables.

I play live and online. He's pretty much an online guy, hence the fact that he brought me to cardschat.

The only time I've complained is when he joined a ring game I was playing. Ring games are not my strong suit, and he was gonna scrutinize every move I made. Watching him play is actually pretty comical. He's at his most entertaining immediately after a bad beat. You can probably hear him cursing in England.

Yup, definitely not going to hear complaints from this pokerette (unless it's about his big head from people treating him like a poker god).

PS - contrary to popular belief, the dog DOES NOT pee on my leg
