Why Russians play like maniacs?

No you can't.

You 'can' generalise.

But you shouldn't.

This is just ridiculous. Its in the poker sites best interest to be honest and to not let these mischievous actions take place. They stand to make more money. More trust in their site equals more traffic.

I only play in freerolls and in those I find the majority of Russians play like maniacs. This makes them very difficult to play against, particularly since they seem to habitually hit the most outrageous hands 2,9 off for example.

I had my AA cracked twice today once by that exact hand and another by a similar one. In both cases by Russians. I wouldn't have minded quite so much if it wasn't for the fact that in both cases I had patiently folded any slightly marginal (A,K/A,Q etc.) hand waiting for my chance.

I once decided that for a whole poker session I would play the way they do. Didn't hit a damned thing!!

That is bad news since they bring most money in poker world.

I don't notice many I would consider "maniacs".

The majority that I encounter are ratholing shortstacks, even at micros. Probably because they can grind out $5/hr in rakeback, and that's better than any job over there. (Not politicking, just making an observation)

The answer is simple, they are maniacs mostly.

Their luck is legendary I went all in after seeing flop with AA - on flop was AK6 and than came J 6 and the russian that called me had 66 on his hand... pretty amazing way to loose your stack...

ive only played a few. and very crazy play i noticed but also the orientals play that way as well ive noticed

it depends, trully...i wouldn't surprise if you talk about your experience with Russians at the poker stars tables, cause the number of them is enormous there and there are plenty of chances there will be a bunch of donkeys..

I heard a Russian say one time that there are only 2 ways to win a hand in poker; to have best hand or to bluff the opponent out of the hand. And it is very hard to have the best hand most times....
But we cannot say all Russians are the same, as goes with any other origin.

There are good Russian players. It is true that much play like lottery. Maybe because since the fall of the Berlin Wall, a lot of money began to circulate in the east.

because they are borred about other activities, and they like adrenalin rush ... because of this they go all in with any cards...

They're used to doing crazy things, it's in their genetic makeup. During WW II, Russian soldiers would do human wave charges against German positions...unarmed...because there weren't enough weapons and ammunition to go around. That says a lot right there...

Dude, I have so much experience with Russians. This is call you have to do.

Call them. Play more aggressive than them.

They love to raise every single chance they get. Just keep playing them like you would heads up and it's all your money. They won't stop bluffing untill all their money is gone! rofl

Love playing HU with any eastern european player. Not so much in MTT or ring games, Where I live many play in the local cardroom, they are culturally loud and agressive by nature, this translates to poker. They can be cowed if you are careful and catch them in a trap a time or two. Online anonymity is fine but if you embarass them in a live game they back off.

All I know is that I look at the nationalities of the player at each table. If there are more than 3 Russians at a SNG 6-max, I move on to the next one

Actually, there are a lot of Russians, Romanians and Brazilians and that's why we have an illusion that all players from this countries play like maniacs.
If there were only 20 people from Russia (and they all were maniacs) playing poker, nobody would call them maniacs. But as there are a lot of Russians, yes, we have that illusion.

The Russians are not necessarily geeks. Most of them are based on the fact that we have them as freaks and willing to give All in preflop with JJ + because they know that their checks even with K10o + because people think that they will come up with 27

I think they are not scarry of loosing money,but i dont know why they than go all in,it is better to raise a bit,or re raise..

I think it's hard to generalize a poker player by their geographic location. There are maniacs everywhere. And if they are going all in with meager holdings, I don't think anyone should complain. If you can't learn to play against EVERY style of player, you will never be a good player. The pros don't prosper because they always get sat with people who play their favorite style. They prosper because they have learned how to play against ANYONE. Maniacs are going to suck out, they are going to 4 bet with 9-4os and they are going to eventually make the wrong move at the wrong time. You just have to be patient and wait them out. Categorizing people solely by where they live is just a good way to get into trouble because if a new guy sits at your table and raises 2 or 3 hands in a row and you know he's Russian, you could be over generalizing against a tight player who has just caught a couple of good back to back hands. Knowing a player comes from sitting at the table with them and watching their actions, not from where they were born.
