Everyone has their own way of playing. I hate when someone tells me how I should have played a hand. I do not mind if someone gives me pointers but when you call me an idiot because I didn't play they hand the way you would that is going a little to far. I will play my way you play your way if you see something that you think will help me improve my game make a suggestion not a demand.

I see it all the time. You have what is called a bad player calling with crap like a 7s 2c. Your right there is no reason why someone should play that hand. However if they play that hand then beat you with it you want to verbally abuse them and tell them how much they how bad of a player they are for playing it.

I say instead of verbally abusing them educate them. Say something like that was a good win but I maybe you should not keep hands like that. I know it sucks losing to crappy hands it happens all the time but that is one of the things that make poker, poker.

If this player does not want to listen to you it is not your place to verbally abuse them they will lose there money in the end.

It makes sense when hundreds of dollars are at stake. But when people start saying 'WHY PLAY THOSE CARDS?' when its just a freeroll or low stake tournament.

The Answer is. I'm here to gamble. ...dick.

is true if you do not want to say anything you have to turn off the chat because there is always someone who thinks he's better than another. but that does not mean you have to know about poker, because it is only a game of poker, you have to study hard to become a very good player and let it be fish .. less you know the more they talk in chat, if to get NH .. regards

I say instead of verbally abusing them educate them.

I keep the chat off for tilt control, but I have called people idiots before. In one case though, I was the idiot by not realizing how powerful the villain's combo draw was in terms of equity. I was just mad at getting stacked.

I have a proposal. Instead of calling them a donk or an idiot, just tell them they are good for the game (gftg) and leave it at that. :) That way you get the satisfaction of giving an insult (which can be a release) without being overly confrontational.

Don't educate them. We NEED them. ;)

This is correct. Instead of responding to insults negatively, Say thank you.
Instead of telling a player he made a wrong move, tell them something positive like, well done or well played.

There's a few good reason for that,
1 - Your mind stays in a positive mood during the game.
2 - You won't tilt yourself because your annoyed or upset.
3 - They will be more upset than you for thanking them for insulting you. Thus turning the tables around in your favour.

Players use insults (weather deserved or not) as a means to put you off your game. Don't let yourself fall into that trap and you'll be fine.

I know it is tough, all day today has been one bad beat after another players just going all in with nothing and here you are holding good cards with good "ev" and in good position but that does not help, you still loose in the end, I am trying my best to stay positive and keep thinking this will turn around but the bad beats just keep coming, but calling people names just seems to fuel them to keep doing it because they know they are getting to you, so yes mute them, it helps me..

I am guilty of making remarks online in the past. if someone if using the box and bragging about their terrible winning play.

The same applies live I have told players that play was horrific etc your going to end up broke if you dont learn the game. -
if they are young and full of themelves believe they will be pro, around my age etc.

not nastily just giving them a reality check :) most players wont tell them they need help

But I always respect my elders and understand for most its just a hobbie and they have a right to enjoy it.

I understand what you're saying and losing to donk play, I usually let it go..... Though I did called some player idiot in the past. I wouldn't do it again. These days I just make notes on that player - when I'm really angry these notes are kind of descriptive lol. Often all I do is say "nice call/nice raise/nice play".
I see where you're coming from though. I make mistakes, too. We are all learning from our mistakes and if I did some donk move/mistake, overplayed something etc. I wouldn't be too happy if someone took it out on me.

I guarantee if you got beat by 7 2 off you aren't going to sit there and be nice and say, "excuse me sir maybe next time you have 7-2 you should fold". You are going to be so mad and talk all kinds of trash to run them down.

When you start talking back they will see that and want to take the rest of your chips and send you away crying. That's what you want, have hem play marginalized. But to me it sounds like you may just need to turn off your chat cause it is getting to you my friend.

1. If chat concerns you, turn off chat. Unless it's a social CC game or something, there's no reason to chat with anybody anyway. I'll sometimes flip over to it to see if anybody is tilt chatting because I can use that against them, but otherwise I don't use chat at all.

2. Why are you wanting to educate someone at the table or expect to be educated? You should relish the bad players making bad plays. Don't educate them, you want them to keep playing bad. Anybody else berating you or any other player for playing bad is an idiot themselves.

My apologize I was not clear. I wasn't talking about online playing my bad. When I am online I usually do not have my chat on I am sure it happens. I was talking about playing with other people in real life when it is a little harder to tune the things you hear out.

We had a guy that was learning the game and some of the other players would just chew him out and yell at him, tell him how bad he was. One of the things is, this guy just start it was his first time playing and these people were just tearing him down telling him how dumb he is and stupid for calling hands he should not have.

I would wait until after the game and talk to him and help him improve his game. I do not agree with tearing anyone down no matter what he/she is doing.

I sometimes do it just to inflate their ego's and make them think i'm tilted. Sometimes this works and sometimes it back fires. When it works, it feels really good. Fish thinks he's tilted me and sometimes will get super aggressive with nothing just so he can show it and 'tilt' me further, meanwhile i'm sitting their with the nuts....lol

No reason to educate them, its same as calling them names. Just ignore and let them play bad. Bad players creates winning players.

I can't believe how many times I've seen people call shoves on the river and double up, then when they see that the other person shoved something like Queen high on a paired board with A and K, they start calling them retard and idiot and all sorts of other names. I wish I could reach through the screen and wring these people's necks, you just doubled up off of somebody's bad play and now you're calling them names?

I saw some more trash talk in today's Bovada game, somebody had AA in late position and raised large, limper in EP called with an offsuit connector and flopped the nuts. I had the same thing happen recently in another CC freeroll, had AA in EP, raised, and somebody calls in the BB with K3, then flops trip Kings. These things are going to continue to happen as long as you continue playing poker, and it's not sportsmanlike to start ranting and cussing, even if you're just a number. All it does is make you look like the idiot.

Live? Play with music in your ears. Even if you hear him, pretend you did not and taking off you earphones ask him loudly what he said. Loud enough so that everyone else at the table hears it.

He will stop shortly, or the rest of the table will stop him.

Here is and excerize that my poker group uses to expand our thinking. Deal 2 cards face down to a player. That player must verbal the conditions under which they would play those cards, The other group member must define a range of cards that the player may have. Keep score the worst guess buys coffee next week.

I see this all the time in live play and it is stupid. Never tell a bad player they are bad - just try to win their chips.

We shouldn't educate them or make them uncomfortable playing live - we need them.

I agree for the most part.
But one or two guys been playing live cash a hell of a long time I wouldnt say were friends but I've had alot of nights with them and its painful to watch,

I had to tell them firstly bankroll management which they refused to believe is true - Secondly playing so many dominated hands OOP, and calling to often for the wrong reasons or without a read on any players. its a recipe to self destruction

Hands like 7 2 are played only at microstakes, but microstakes = all about gambling.
Just ignore that players, sometimes they throw a good of money to you.

This is what makes it really hard for micro players trying to move up the levels. It makes it very difficult when the majority of the field are gambling, no skill involved.
