Why people prefer Texas Hold'em to Omaha?
I'm new player and I instantly loved the Omaha Hi-Low concept (multiple winnings, and winnings on low cards). What's the catch? What I'm missing about Texas?

Thank you

For me I just love Texas hold em vs omaha because of the possibilities. There are just too many possibilities envolving omaha which makes donks try and chase and most of time hits. Even if you flop nuts you will eventually lose in the river lol. Idk thats just l what I think of it.

I play both Omaha & Texas Holdem. To me the excitement that Texas Holdem brings doesn't even compare to each other.Omaha is Kinda like playing limit holdem where you are gonna get chased to the river ,because of the the possibilities of combination hands.I think Texas Holdem will stay the King of poker games for awhile. Some peeps might say totally opposite of how I compare the two games, dunno.

I love texas holdem because that is the game of poker that I first learned...I have come to enjoy both omaha and PLO8...but the four cards in the hand does induce a much larger percentage of chasers and unfortunately with the extra cards they are paid off on their chase more often...

Omaha is actually an easier game to play if u chose the right table. Never commit to a pot on the flop wait till the turn where the odds are better if u flop the nuts and always leave yourself a chance to improve on later streets after flop. A lot of donks will call u down but thats why its easier to get your money in good and usually if u play a hand u win a descent pot. Dont play starting hands to have limited ways to make the nuts and dont play games that force you to commit on the flop. Passive people at omaha are great for your bottom line.

The reason why people prefer Texas holdem. The game was invented way before there was television, but it's like it was made for TV. So there's way more exposure to the general public of holdem. And then there's the excitement factor, from going to rags to riches, and Riches to rags, in one hand. Also there's only one game in poker, where 8000 people go to play for the world championship, for eight days.

Texas to me is by far a much easier game to play than omaha.
They say only about five percent of texas players really know how to play omaha.
I very rarely play cash but when I do it is omaha.
Mostly PLO HIGH.
the high lo is just such a patience game, and dont really care to chop the pot every single time.

Yep, if you like action and that's with the majority of micro-stakes players, then Omaha is the thing for you, especially the Hi-Lo variant.
The majority of online-players know the micro-stakes are full of donks and fish, so no matter what variant you play, there will always be someone chasing you or drawing to the river with a gutshot or worse. :p
Just don't take it that hard, because it is all a learning experience for you, while the fish and donks keep getting dumber and luckier.
Micro-stakes is to sharpen your skills and further your knowledge and experience about the game.

I hope this helps and I enjoy both, but I like the PLO Omaha cash-games better, because of the action and I like to play NLHE-tournaments, because of my experience and knowledge, plus I like the fact to go all in with two holecards and coinflipping, etc. Maybe it's the rush!

Grts,

Charlie

Omaha, especially hi-lo, reminds me of home games where they make 16 wild cards. It just feels wrong to risk my money on the nuts and then split it with a dip-chit with crap. It's psycholgical I guess.

playing omaha definitely has more table action than holdem.
cos the winning equity is pretty close, even the best hands AAXX? would have 60%? against a random ??

Omaha has too many cards. I get really confused when the draw comes and always end up getting rid of all 5 because there's always a chance you'll get a better hand.

I think to me, Texas Holdem is just easier. Less cards to deal with at a time and more fun! I'm still learning about omaha though, so my thoughts could change!

Texas is poker more or less distilled to it's most pure and simple form. It's very easy to learn the basics of the game, but it's almost impossible to truly master it.

I would say it's also the game easiest to explain to a casual TV viewer, which is part of the reason why poker shows tend to stick with it. A minute to learn, a lifetime to master.

I totally prefer omaha by far, actually I only omaha cash games. I still play NLH tournaments because they have a lot more value, but if I could I would only play omaha. I think that people usually prefer NLH because it's a lot easier to understand and play.
