I play on Bovada, so there's no real point in taking player notes. The notes just vanish when you or the other player leave the table.

But, I still take notes when I am playing. Not because they are helpful (sometimes I might make a note of a specific thing but those helpful notes are rare).

I take notes because my six-year old thinks that's how you send messages to players. My kid was watching me play a tournament, and I was taking notes on players. I explained that they were notes, when he asked. He misunderstood who the notes were for. At this point, I find it so funny that I can't bear to tell him otherwise.

Here we are sending a message of praise but also subtle warning.

My kid picks the messages. He's very supportive of people who have big stacks. He likes to tell them how well they're doing. He's very supportive. I don't think he ever thinks of a "bad" thing to tell the other players. We are always telling them how well they're doing, how they shouldn't worry because they will win a hand soon, and so on. It does keep me in a positive mood, and we even root for some players to win some hands because we have a note hoping they'll do better.

We honestly spend all the time we don't have hands to play talking about what we should say to the other players. This also encourages us to watch them. One of the notes from tonight was, "you make weird bets" because the player kept making insanely large bets on flops.

It's so funny. He does wonder why no one ever sends us messages. I tell him that the messages to us show up in the chat window. I don't know if he wonders why none of our messages do that.

This was the best/funniest part of the whole post. You never see anybody 'congratulating big stacks' or anything like that. It is always nasty, mean comments...

Anyways, nice story. Best of luck in the future

Tking notes on bovada works if you run into them later in the tourney after your table breaks up

Losing your notes after the tourney is whacked! I'm glad its not like that on Carbon. I even download the notes file from my desktop to a flash drive and load them on to my laptop so I'll have them there. It also helps should my computer ever crash. I love my notes :)

But then how do you know who they are?

uhhhhh..... right.....NOT

Let me explain..... Taking notes on an anonymous site, yea, kinda not very fruitful.

Saying the notes you have on a particular player are worthless cause he can "change his style".... You need to do some adjustment to your thinking.

On the other hand, if you cant detect the style change, well, notes aint gonna help anyway....

Sorry Vinnie, didnt mean to derail your nice story.

This is great! I need to work on this myself... especially the part where we root for some players to win some hands!
He does wonder why no one ever sends us messages.

I don't normally ever play on bodog but if you sent me a pm, I'd join your table just to send your son a few messages in the chat. (not sure what time you play at, but there's a good chance I am on Bodog/Bovada on Mondays at 8pm ET for the CC games & sometimes at 1pm on Saturday for the CC freeroll).

My 2yr. old grandaughter watches me play (actually she insists on it).
She likes the part where the pile of chips moves to one of the players at the end of the hand (doesn't matter which direction they're going in).

Maybe Fletchdad could join us too? (I think he'd enjoy the nice chat comments from your son, letting him know that he too will win a hand at some point).

*1: I would love to, if bodog HADNT SHUT ME DOWN WITH OUT PRIOR NOTICE. CAPS on purpose. Bodog stopped letting German players play, and I found out by trying to open my account. They just stopped their service here. If I got an email it was "lost"...fkn bodog

*2 Me, win a hand??? Shit, I wish:D

The thing that I find amazing about what you wrote above is that your kid at the age of 6 can already write :D
relating to notes, if you play on a big platform like Stars you might not meet again that player :D
