When I walk into my hometown poker room here in Tampa there are usually 100-200 players in the room. I might have to deal with maybe 1 or sometimes 2 (play any 2 cards to the river) idiots at my table but have played with most of the regulars so I have an edge and can usually beat the game with good solid, patient poker playing.
online poker in my opinion is a freekin joke.... 30,000+ players, I know maybe 5 of em, table changing every 5 minutes, constant influx of Play any 2 cards horses asses, bad beats up the wazoo due to the ratio of good poker to bad poker players at table, and no HUMAN EMOTIONAL CONTACT. I wont even dwell on the horrendous play on the lower limit tables.....I cant even consider this poker, you might as well flush your money down the toilet over a few hours or play bingo.....pretty much same result.
I'm just thankful I live in a state allows legal poker rooms, and feel sorry for you folks that have no other option but to play online. It's a tough gig.

Just my view,
Peace

Well the thing to consider is if online poker rooms are so full of fishy players then we as above average knowledgeable students of the game should be able to crush the competition!!

Not that I'm there by any means, but when I see the posts complaining about terrible play it just doesn't make sense to me sure it could cause more variance but I would think consistently playing against players making bad desicions would be pretty profitable in the long run.

Live poker for money is quite frankly forbidden in germany exept in casinos or at "official" championships.:eek::eek:

:joyman::joyman::joyman:

What else can I do ?

Play with my friends for their money ?

They might not like that / want that / be my friends after that .

Then how do you explain the new generation of 'live' players on the poker broadcasts who reportedly have won millions online?

Yo Einsein, what you don't understand is that I said it's hard to beat a game that has a ratio of more bad players to good players..... not that I can't beat bad players. This is because the all too many bad beats cut into your ROI and come much more often when too many players at the table are playing any 2 cards to the river.

All the things I love about it. :D

Someone has to win some of that online money, but check this.......billions have been won in casinos.

So.. are you are saying that bad players are hard to beat and good players are easy to beat?

Maybe it would be better to adopt the bad players style. If it is so difficult to beat then it must actually be good.

Move up to where they respect your raises ldo.

This is the most common complaint of those players not good enough to beat the online game. Improve your game and you'll win.

I've played in tampa casinos live. I feel much more comfortable playing online. Just as many donkeys in tampa, but you can only play one table against the donks while you are playing live.

what is your point exactly? it sounds like haha i have a casino near me so too bad for you. i do have 3 casinos in a reasonable distance but do choose to often play online for convenience. also, i would rather play against people who are weak online. yes its challenging to play those who are at or above your level, but i kinda like makin money and makin money is easier when your playin against weaker competition. but gl with the casino thing. more fish for the rest of us.

Well today I got up and didn't feel like getting dressed and was able to head to the coffee machine, throw some oatmeal in the microwave and sit down at my computer in my underwear, while multi-tabling half a dozen 6-maxNL tables while picking my nose. Didn't have to put my shoes on never mind driving my car anywhere. How bout you?

Sure when I'm on a tourney-style table and there are a disproportionate # of bad players this can be a real drag with a ton of donking... but on the cash tables I love it!! Isolate the idiots in position and prepare to stack them off... Weeeeeeeeeeeee.

Live players in my area are far worse than online (10NL online seems far better than 100NL live). For tourney play... I'd say the $5 mtt's are better than the $75 & $100 live I play (although the $5 mtts online are really bad... .but gives you an idea of what the live tourneys are like here). Here's another 'odd' observation of mine... the best players in the live games here are the ones who are winning online. Isn't that odd?? ... and actually the only decent players in the live tournaments are the ones who play online (whether they're winning players online or not (most aren't)).

I actually really like online play. Ya really can't beat the convenience of it.

I love live poker. Playin the cash games u get alot of fish who wanna play any 2 cards and it pretty easy to take their money.

Playin in a live MTT feels like the same as online to me. Even if its a £10 - £40 buy-in ur gettin alot of donkeys who wanna play any cards and u can usally stack them off even with top pair sometimes. But u get the bad players who suck out and then u have to drive bk home. Lucky for me it's only a 30min drive to my local casino's.

But i love online poker for the reason that i can sit in my underwear, smoke a joint while playing (havin to get up from my seat and quickly blast a tab and mayb miss some premium cards kinda isnt a good thing, but i choke 4 a tab), plus it kinda feels the same as live play with aload of donkeys. Plus there is more money to b won online unless ur playing at the big casinos. Where else can u turn $5 into mayb....$3k+ in a MTT?

Both types have their advantage. Whatever it may be that appeals to you probably decides which it is that you prefer.

LOL. I don't know the numbers but online poker has got to be much more profitable than live poker. For all the reasons you claim as your reasons for not liking it. It sounds to me that you play poker for the social interaction and not to make money. Which is fine. Good for you, but I think this is why you don't like it.

I wish the casino I had around here had real poker rooms unfortunetly i have to play online most the time... I'm better at reading ppl and not as worried about bad beats because I can actually see the deck in front of my being shuffled and dealt so there's no doubt in my mind it's not fixed to sweeten the cards or give newer players an edge to make them feel good....

I started playing poker online first.
I then thought I would try at the casino on weekends.
I find it easier online as its much simpler to keep track of your tournament progress which affects some desisions late on.
Just my opinion but overall Iv had better results online.

Unreal rivers online. Alot more hands playing online so it leads to easier lapses in judgement?

I live in Orlando. So the poker room in Tampa is to far to go to on a regular basis. So online it is.

I started playing live I guess you can say, would go over some friends house and play at his kitchen table, but after awhile I realize they were just cheating me cuz I didn't know how to play,or none of us really knew how to play, I think just a little bit of both, anyway so I started playing online, now I know how to play, and recently started playing in a league at a local bar, brother the shock I got from online to playing live, wow big difference, I lost my ass the first few weeks, then slowly I got used to it, but what i really want to say is the best players there, after talking to some of them are online players, but for me the biggest thing for me to learn was to play the same way as I do online to use the same tools that I learned playing online I mean poker is poker top 5 cards make the hand you get the same donks live as you do online chase to the end then get lucky and hit it on the river
