Once I considered playing online professionally as a very real possibility. I was beating the game for more than I earn at my current job. Then came Back Friday. Since then, I have played less and less online. The games are not as good, and to be honest I am scared to leave much money on any one site. As a result I have been playing mostly in micro stakes for the last couple of years. Last year I won less than $300. I am still squeaking out a small profit, so at least I am not losing, but it just is not that fun any more. My play is starting to suffer. I think I need a long break from the online grind.

After tomorrows 5k, I am returning to my roots and playing exclusively in live games for the foreseeable future. Hopefully I will rediscover my love of the game.

If there are no casinos nearby, it remains to play online.
But I would like to try to play live.

I would gladly preposal be playing live than online in my country-Smoking casino and play areas, and private poker clubs is quite difficult to get the common man.

I'd be playing live every waking moment if I lived near a casino. It's fun and more profitable than online.

I'm thinking about moving my job to Vegas. My job has openings in Vegas, but my friend & cousin had some issues living in Vegas. My friend's brother had his apartment broken into. His brother left and gave him the apartment... later the apartment was broken into again LOL. My cousin had his car broken into.

So 2/2 people I know in Vegas that had some issues. That's the only part I would be worried about is the crime. I'd have to find a hopefully safe/secure neighborhood. Also I heard Vegas isn't the best place for family? I have a wife & 2 kids, but they are both really young so they wouldn't be exposed to sin city.
---
Meh I'd still go to Vegas! The pros definitely outweigh the cons IMO.

The main advantage, and in some cases even greater advantage in live poker games (live poker) is that you can see their rivals can talk to them, but by gestures or other nonverbal cues to understand whether he is nervous or bluffing. And thus get additional trump cards. Although why more? After all, poker rules trump cards are not provided at all. Agree that it is much more interesting than sitting at home in front of a computer or laptop.

I enjoy live poker more than internet poker and would play more if casinos were closer to me.

Distraught with live

I live in CT and have Foxwoods and Mohegan close by, and I mean VERY close by. Unfortunately my bankroll doesn't let me play anything other than 1/2 every few months or so. My biggest problem is that if you sit with anything less than $200, you're still most likely behind and have to deal with donkeys raising 20x BB preflop with 46off like I've seen other people do rather often. Good luck on your endeavors though, I wish you the best.

and whether to seek ways to find the taste you back to poker and if you can play live is a way to get back into poker. Online gambling is good but not much difference but do you have a large bankroll. it seems to me. luck

I also love playing online, in the homegames I play I'm not a bad player but when looking online I've broken even last year on the micro's and still managed to earn pokerstars 2500$ rake.. would've been nothing but profit in my homegame:( Still if there are people making money on the micro's so can you.. but just remember who earns the most :)

In addition I must say I've learned A LOT by playing online! things I wouldn't have learned playing live or it wouldn't atleast gone so fast:) just think how fast you can play 10K hands online while playing live once a week you won't ever play that volume :)

I want to switch to live poker, but refuse to put my own money into poker. So my goal for 2015 is to grind the micros enough to start a live bankroll. I'm aiming for 1k before I step foot into a casino again.

I love playing live. There's lots of people there who can't calculate odds as well as frequent online players can. It's fun to be around real people and observe their personalities. For me, it's much less of a grind in the US than online right now-if you can find the right casinos.

I love live, but I feel for me that online is alot more of a challenge, you have so many more opportunity's to learn from mistakes and your able to review your hands in detail, you are also able to check your VPIP/PFR stats ALOT more accurately, it sucks that your don't have the same love for the game as before but I have been there as-well. I really hope your passion for online comes back soon because it is a great thing

The games on Bovada have been good for a long time - Honestly since 2009 in the bodog days.

I think switching back to live is a good idea if that is what you're more comfortable with. Good luck!

Yeah there is a different feel to live poker, you see your friends, tell some stories have some laughs and feel like there is a beginning a middle and an end to your evening. Online it doesn't seem as gratifying or healthy in my honest opinion, there is certainly some gratification in winning a 500 person tourney or a huge cash session but there is a detachment from reality. Also, and I think more importantly, you don't have a built in excuse to stop at the strip club on your way home
