I'm not talking about the players.
So many freerolls on so many sites have low starting chips and or accelerated blinds.
WHY????

They are there to help people starting in poker or others with low funds try to get some funds to play on their sites.
Often these people have done the training courses only to find that freeroll play has very little to do with what they have learned or taught.

Sites surely are not short on computer use time so why not have real time tournaments with decent starting chips so that, at least some times, sensible play will achieve results.

If you were a good player you might be on the other side of the fence. Short and fast is perfect for me.

freerolls are a waste of time IMO. i mean, everyone can deposit 20-50 $ and start playing the micros properly.

In my opinion in general freerolls help but who is starting .... and I also think that these same freerolls should start addressing other poker variations like omaha, omaha h / l, stud and 5carddraw that are as interesting as texas holdem games.

So poker sites have these freerolls just to help people get a BR, that makes sense, poker sites are having freerolls just to give away money and get nothing in return.

3000 starting stack and 5 min blind are perfect for big field
10 min blind are ok for CC structure with 60-200 players

Think of a freeroll as a free sandwich. Do you say "needs mustard" or "ooo a free sandwich"?

Personally I would like longer blinds, however a lot of people don't think it's worth their time to sit hour upon hour upon hour in a freeroll in the blinds are not fast or if structure if not a turbo.

Plus the site may think the faster the tournament ends is the faster the money won from the freeroll will start coming to the tables & increasing rake for the site.

WHY ARE FREEROLLS SO STUPID

I will guess you are referring to the way some players play the Freerolls, since they dont cost anything they just play them as a Lottery. If you understand this reality then you adjust to it and gain some $$$. I like them :)

uhh ... its amazing that you joined this site in 2007 because i dont agree with anything that you just said.

1) i REALLY enjoy the Cardschat Freerolls. Are those stupid too ?? If you think so .. the PLEASE dont join the club.

2) Freeroll play is NO different than a "buy in" tournament ... except for the fact that it is "free" to play. Sure, more people are going to go all in more often because they have nothing to lose ... but at the same time, there are a lot of maniacs that play cash games and regular tournaments too ... it just depends on the field. If i am playing a $10 freeroll on ACR and there are like 800 people enrolled, after an hour or two, i get bored. and if there are around 400 people still left, im going all in too !!! What do i have to lose ???

3) sites like ACR have freerolls at least once an hour, and you start with 1500 chips. there are usually around 800 people that play each freeroll. If they only ran a freeroll every 5 hours or so, and gave you 25000 chips to start with, there would probably be around 3000 people enrolled in the freeroll ... which i think would be much worse.

I dont mean to be rude, but i think that ACR/BCP is extremely nice for giving people the opportunity to win free money 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If there is just one freeroll an hour, thats $240.00 a DAY that they are just "giving" to the committed players. That comes to $7,200.00 a month. ($86,000 a year). So instead of saying "freerolls are stupid", you should be looking at them in a different light. In a sense, they are a gift from ACR to us for being committed players. Hopefully you will understand what i am trying to say.

Good luck !!

my complaint is against some sites where they give you 500 chips and accelerated blinds.

They can only be fun but hardly encourage good playing standards.

Rumor has it that sites are considering making participation in free rolls optional.

Freerolls so stupid!?
I think 888 poker freeroll just as you describe-Stupid, with low funds、crazy All-in、no skill of poker.
All we know freerolls take time to play, it make one disappointed who lose in bubble. A new player lose 30 times in a tournament may never play it again.
So, today's FR is combin poker and casino, player's judgement is only all-in or not in this hand. then it will not take time again, and new player may earn a little money to built their BR when they are lucky.
I think this kind of FR is interesting but not help for learning poker skrill.

Let me correct u there - freerolls are not stupid and people sometimes are. So manny of them wants to have more chips as fast as possible so they do dumb moves while u doing ur best and playing poker as it should b played.

Freerolls are made for low budget accounts to make something out of their play, so u deside are u gona bust out or stay in till the end. I won 1 freeroll with 765 players so far and 2 manny times at 2nd or 3rd place or somewhere near final tabel which got me a decent $ to play bigger tournys and thats what is all about.

Also it depends at what software u play and how does their card generator react. And i dont care is the time 5 or 10 min. as long the freeroll is playable and has good prize structure i will do my best.

I do not really get the point of the OP.

Freerolls are a choice, play if you want, dont otherwise,, have varying structures, often very similar to money MTT's, and are...uhh... FREE.

Whats not to like?
