Why does it take the dealer almost 1:30 to finally show the flop?

Because it´s a crucial hand. The audience can not lose that moment and of course to give some suspense to the moment after all it´s not everyday that the best poker player of the world get´s eliminated of the most prestigious poker tournament of the world.

It's just a way of building up the tension.

i dont know but i really dont like when the dealer takes a lot of time, because the tension you have in this moment is extreme and you just want to see the flop, turn and river as soon as possible.

It's pretty common on TV tables. As said it's an entertainment gimmick to build tension.
