I see many people reluctant to say that poker is a game of chance, that online games are manipulated, which few will be millionaires playing.
Honestly I think all this is blame transfer. Poker is like any other profession, if you work hard and STUDY in depth will have your results.

Do you know what's wrong or right at Poker?
Do you study Poker?

As in all endeavors practice is the key. Study helps to some degree but there is nothing as valuable as hands on experience.

I've recently started studying the game.

I read "Texas Hold'em Poker - Paul Mandelson" which made me realise I was overvaluing almost every hand I was dealt. I completely changed how I play, the cards I play, how I bet, bankroll management... everything.

Whilst the tight-aggressive playing style I've now adopted is paying off in small amounts, progress is extremely slow. I need to further improve and expand my game and (as I said in my reply to that other thread), my next subject of learning is poker math.

I also enjoy simply opening up tables at various limits and watching others play, trying to put them on hands (or ranges of hands) and seeing how accurate I can be before/if they have to show.

There is an awful lot to learn and I'm still at the very beginning.

As with any work in poker, you must have a cold mind, shrewdness, and how I think it should be in the mood to play, the important is the physical form.

Lately I've been studying poker and playing more than before and I've made very little money and lost very quickly what I won. I think it's because I'm still amateur when I'm more experienced, I think my results will be better, I hope to improve my game and start making more money and making more final tables because it's very good.

A couple of books that I bought from Amazon.
Not going to post the links as I'm not sure if that sort of thing is frowned upon here. Easy enough to find though, most book stores/sites should have a large collection of poker books.

I play a lot of freerolls and this is the best study. You do not bother with money, but you stuff your hand

In addition to knowledge, practice and intuition, an important role in poker is strong nerves. Especially when playing live.

I lack the patience to profit well. Dry runs get me frustrated, especially when they include bad beats and loss after loss. Sometimes I'll get angry and go crazy and put all of my freeroll money into a singe sit & go.

Practice is important, but you need to study new strategies to practice. That is, without studying you will never evolve. Do you agree with reasoning?

I win because I play a few times and always aggressive when I enter the pot
I lose because I do not have the patience to play long tournaments ..
When I enter the awards zone I'm already psychologically tired
So I left because I already made some money

Study

I do agree with your reply. There is always something to learn no matter what your skill level and experience levels are. I'm sure the top pros keep up with learning. To think that you know it all is the sign of a fool, lol.;)

winning in poker means a lot of small wins sum up. If you double your BR in a week sure you will bust it next week. So winning player must be capable to beat the game and rake and follow brm and know some days will be at lost, but the main goal is overall win. What i do is when lost couple of byuins try higher stakes to breakeven the session and i breakeven my roll to zero. It always amazes me how clear and easy is this to understand and how difficult to execute when tilted.

Poker is a game of decisions. The more correct decisions you make the more you will win.

Its a game of incomplete information. You have to fill the gaps in.
