I'm no prude but I cannot stand the horrible talk ie... rascist comments, hatefull comments against women or men.
It seems so juvenile. I like to horse around even talk harmless crap occasionally but really people, it just looks like your a sore loser when you make ugly unwanted derogatory remarks. Lets show people we can still have fun and play poker with a bit of class...talk just a little trash but lets not get personal

For instance losing in a tournament during a head up confrontation and wish the other person to die is at least...terrifying and horrific!!!!What Freud would have diagnosed????:confused::confused:

Because people are allowing their egos and emotions control them. You should be happy to hear and then exploit that.

The people who do this are most likely kids who are looking to make themselves feel tough. The truly racist & deranged, etc. usually don't play poker and probably wouldn't type their true feelings if they did.

I usually find the lower the limits, the more aggressive the chat. People think it's a great way to get others on tilt. I just mute ppl if their chat bothers me.

the world is full of wankers. sadly some of them choose to play poker.

As a guy who's seen it all, Brunson says something to the effect of 'Sore losers are bad for poker' in one of his books I've read. Putting someone on tilt purposefully by throwing a few comments here and there is different than talking about someones mom, race, or other personal insults and violent threats barely good enough to win over a 7th grade crowd.
I've taken some misguided racist comments in stride.. I'm white but my avatar is a picture of James Brown, so I find it equally pathetic/funny when someone calls me the n-word after I beat them fair and square (it's happened more than ten times)

I would definitely have to agree that most players talk junk to provoke another to go on tilt. It has happened to me quite a few times over the past 2 weeks. I used to get mad and sometimes go on tilt, but now I just use their words against them to put them on tilt. After I do that I report their chat and then they lose their chatting privelidges for 3 months.

That'll teach em to watch what they say.......

It's more the weekend warriors, the guys who play at poker, not the poker players who do this. Poker players play everyday or nearly everyday. They learn to behave and act civil or they become weekend warriors.:):):):)

A lot of crap comes from those that have just got knocked out so it has nothing to do with trying to put the other on tilt. I do believe that a lot of it has to do with the anonymity of online players and no consequences for their actions. I also think that poker may be the only type of competition they have had and have never learned good sportsmanship. Then again I could be wrong and they're all just a bunch of ******* who can just **** my ****** and ****** their *******. j/k:D

From what I have seen you find a idiot talking crap in every other table. It seems to thin out after you get into the higher levels. I don't notice it as much in the $5-$10 games or higher. The same goes for tournaments the higher the buy in the more tact players have. If it bothers you to much just click on stats or something so chat doesn't show.

Pretty much the only time I participate in conversation at the table is when I am playing in a private game. Otherwise, I do not pay attention to what is going on in the chat box. I know that many people get real brave when they are not face to face with there opponents.

I guess it all depends on the crowd you're playing with. Generally, the trash talk is a minimum with the groups I play with. I don't get much online trash talk either. Who wants to play with a loud, dirty mouth?

2) if trashtalk bothers you so much, then just mute chat!

Do you (or anyone) know how to do this on Stars? It would make everything so nice, as I'm not good enough to play higher limits yet >.<

Thanks.

Yup real simple just right click on offensive persons name and check block chat:), also you can go to the chip stack at your table and check silent for dealer and uncheck observer and table chat.

Honestly, has anyone seen a good player talk any shit? The good players realize they get their money from the fish. Once in a while you see one, but for the most part the better players are the ones sitting back quietly raking in the money, while the bad players, marginal losers, and marginal winners get pissed at bad beats because they don't understand where their money comes from. Obviously there's the occaisional Hellmuth, but especially online, I've seen pretty much no good players berating fish. There's just no point to it, let them continue to think they're playing perfect poker. Once in a while I'll see regs jokingly calling the other a donk, but that's not the same thing since first off it's usually in jest and second off the reg already is doing his best to improve and is in no danger of leaving. But when a good player loses an all-in to a gutshot, all they should say is "nh".

You missed something here. Beyond not berating fishies, always good to say 'nice catch' when they suck out. Makes em feel like staying around.
Trash talk has its place, but I generally dont go there, takes a lot of energy and leaves a bad taste.

I actually have. There's a video on stox, can't remember which coach, but after a fish bashes him for his supposedly bad play (wtf?), he responds in kind (within the bounds of decency) with the clearly stated goal of challenging villain to a heads-up table at the highest stake fishy will agree to, because he sees that as easy money.

I do it. And as others have said I do it to tilt people. It's just a great way to bust someone. There's no way you can bluff properly, so I talk faul language. Of course it's not always faul, but most of the time, yes; And I try to get someone involved so they get more angry/disgusting than I am.

Even if no one reacts I keep talking and talking.

Sometimes I try to chat up people. Make them think I'm trying to hit on them so they they either "Ooo I'm liked" or "Ooh, this must be one stupid player!"

But now that you remind me, I have traded barbs and moved people into HU situations where I take their pants and watch. U donkey.

I think someone will only disturb your game, that you can't concentration well and make mistakes. That are the dangerous kinds of opponents. Someone talk only to talk and some kind of players want to overplay his bad game. I think that`s the most.

I only see this in freerolls and low buy in MTT. For instance the CC freerolls have become much more enjoyable to play as there is now a minimal amount of this happening. The exception was this past weekend when someone was called down for not having enough post to be playing and there were a few words exchanged. I really don't see how you can carry on an involved converstaion and concentrate on playing at the same time. It just slows the game down.

U talk to much------la-de-dah-de-dah

Yup! Usually people who are lousy poker players will be the loud-mouthed badasses---they're the Mike Madasow wanna bees---an' they think if they acted an' talked like Mike, they would be able to PLAY like mike!:argh: Now, have you ever noticed that Cardschat members, for the most part, hardly ever bad-mouth each other---NOT ALL, mind you, but fer the most part, are players who just wanna paly QUALITY Poker? ESPECIALLY at our private FRs/Buy in games!:tee: I've even had players explain to me how to play better an' things like how to bet correctly for the most profit and WHY it would suit me better to do as they suggest-----NOT SCREAM obsenities at me and call me names!:listen: Dat's Y CC is the best damn poker forum onna planet!:congrats:
