Someone had asked me why do I play freerolls if you have a bankroll? This is actually a very good question. I read online that actually some well known PROs play freerolls to fine tune their games. After hearing that, I decided to adopt the same philosophy. After of course I survive the donk hour, then serious players come alive. For the next few hours I train on understanding people's betting patterns. This is the only tell you can have when playing online. Overall, why not fine tune yor game for free.

I think it's the complete opposite. If anything it makes my play worse. I go allin with second pair after seeing the garbage people play.

My fondest wish is to win enough off of freerolls so I never have to play one again.

Personally I don't think it worth playing a 10 000+ entrants freeroll because you could stay in front of your computer for at least 3 hours before you get a bad beat then u miss your chance to win a big 100 $ that only 1 of the 10 000 players will actually win. I rather play a 0.25$ 90 entrants sit n go like the ones on Pstars if I want to practice new moves or strategies

Freerolls got me my bankroll,
I ground out a small BR over a year ago and I still have it.
I still play them when I can just because......

I agree with you completely. I usually lose before I start coming back. And after the first hour, the play can be quite good . Depends on the table but the same can be said of real money - at least the lower stakes I'm used to. Sometime I try to force myself to use some tried and true aggressive strategies, and it's nice to be pleasantly surprised when they work, and really begin to feel why thru online tells. Mixed results of course. :p But although I have a bankroll that can support higher stakes at a couple sites, I like playing the freerolls that I enjoy - namely Omaha and HORSE.

what's wrong with having the chance to play for free cash? beats playing with play money. lots of poker sites like cardschat and the like offers freerolls on the major sites. look around.

do anything.....freerolls are free!!!

I'm sorry but I respectfully disagree.

Freerolls cost time. Time that could be turned into good money by playing real money games (if you're a winning player). And money not won costs just the same as money lost. So for a winning player, freerolls actually cost you your usual $/hour rate, which can be a substantial cost.

Some freerolls win you tickets into games that you cant buy into and some of these ticket games have pretty high payouts. For the most part you have to be a solid player to win one of these tickets.

I like playing freerolls as ikeep records of how i play what i have won and to see if i can improve my game each month. i also play the odd tourney with my freeroll winnings. tried a cash game and lost a fair bit so ent back to freerolls and now have$187 in one account. and if you suffer a bad beat in freerolls its easier to laugh it off

I find almost as many idiots in real money as I do in freerolls. I was very surprised myself to find this out. Maybe they learn how to play in freerolls and then continue the same playing style in real money. I don't care what anyone else says but, playing online is so different than playing live. I don't just mean that you can see someone facial expressions and body language. I don't consider myself in any way psychic but, after playing online for any length of time I can start predicting what seat will be sucking out on the hand. I am sure someone (they always do) will say well just don't play online. I enjoy poker and don't live any where near any place that allows playing poker. If I did I would'nt play online any more. Alittle over a year or so ago I read a study that 3 computer science professors wrote. It explained that they still do not have the technology to shuffle the decks of the cards used in the online poker sites to make them completely fair to all players on the table. If I can find that study online again I will post it on here.

I play freerolls just for fun :)

Not like that , i will not say that freerolls are only for fun! you can learn a good game in this platform only. Freerolls always needs time to win i say that in first 2 or 3 levels most of the players who are just try the game for fun will be out. and no donks can be able to win!! i strongly like freerolls with more than 1000players

I like to play free rolls because I can let my hair down and play hands that I wouldn't normally play and learn so much in the process!

I think freerolls are challenging. Ecspecailly in the first hour. There is not telling what people are going to call you with. There might only be one out left in the deck and they will call hoping to get thier card. A serious rollercoaster ride. Yet you can still learn from it.

Yeah I don't think freerolls improve my game too much. I tend to get bored and not take them seriously. And there's always a lot of foolish players.

It's a waste of time if you have a bankroll.

And I play freerolls to practice my patience. Also, like competition. It's a good challenge to get to final table from so many players

Freerolls have improve my game dramatically. Before I couldn't place high in a ten man tourney. Now I have a high number of 1st place ten man tourneys and low to medium BR on four out seven sites I play on. Not to mention tickets to other tourneys I couldn't of gotten into in the first place. It is great for all skill levels I believe. I always had it to make it past the donks but finally taken on the big guys feels great.

Freerolls, if you can maintain your patience despite not needing the money, are an EXCELLENT way to practice MTT skills (IMHO). I have learned a lot about mid/late-game play based on Carbon Poker freerolls, and they offer a six-handed freeroll which is not something I see often and lets me practice my six handed game in MTT.

Usually the play is bad in the first hour but after the break and ESPECIALLY after the second break it is usually quality play with a lot of poker.
