My math teach tought me to play, inadvertantly. When studying combinatorics and probability we frequently looked at odds of drawing cards, specific or in a range, and how those odds change based on what you know from your own hand and what cards have already come up. I started putting that to use in my penny games in high school. I didn't learn holdem until years later, but by then the concept of "pot odds" was hardly foreign to me.

I honestly can't remember.... I would say I'm still learning.... always learning... but being new to the game I made less mistakes. I cashed good in the beginning in live mats, and single table sit & go's...

Poker Rules I knew from school years. Then he plays against the casino. It was a terrible time. A lot of money has given the casino. But in the game of Texas Hold'em taught me online. Nearly 10 years I play online and constantly improve their game.

I learned by myself. I saw a commercial on television and tried playing. My life has always been a game hhaha. PS3 playing pro evolution soccer, I was a professional football player and I see poker with similar characteristics, mainly adrenaline. It was passion at first sight and this made me study the game more and learn more of it.

Me, myself and Intellipoker. It took some time to understand that theory is not real play and that "Variance" swings both sides. :deal:

I was taught to play poker - Internet! There the first time started to play and study the game yourself. I began to read forums and watch videos online, and then practice on virtual money. Many of course did not understand at first, but then I started to understand and more interesting to play.

at the beginning of the companions taught me, but later I started the game, when I started with real money to play did not work and then I started to watch how serious players play (tv, youtube ....) at the end there's a poker school on poker stars.

That is a good question

That is a good question. In thinking back, I don't remember where I learned poker.

All I know is I started playing poker on ships as a Merchant Seaman back in the 1950s.

Poker has always been a special part of my life. My grandfather taught me to play when I was very young. When I think back to my young life most of my memories come from sitting at a table playing poker with all the older people in my family. A lot of these people are now gone so I cherish there memories a lot and thank my grandfather for teaching me and letting me sit down with all the older people. I know I would drive him crazy always singing or making noise but he never cared. Not to mention he would let me win when I was young which I didn't find out about until I was much older and he would woop me bad lol. I think poker is so much more than just another gambling game. Feel free to share who taught you or any cool poker stories you have.
I always was interested in this game-- I could see poker in the movies. when I appeared online I tried it and liked. In the childhood we my cousin grandfather was taught to play whist( preference)-- now this game is not so popular, or rather for me it did not become a favorite.

Funny, a friend of mine who taught me how to play poker in the past, and really bad. But thank you because he showed me the basics and then I was learning with studies and I still continue, the worse thing is that he until today but speaks more with me because after I learned I did not lose one for him.

Myself .... I learned through playing at real money tables. It was costly but is the best way to learn imo.

I did learn the basic rules at play money tables first.

Great topic!

I learned to play 7 Card Stud and 5 Card Draw from my uncle when I was a little snot flicker. Whenever his work buddies came over, they let me play with them a little as well. Once the booze came out, they politely asked me to move along ... I respect them for that, now that I am a father of two boys.

I love the game because of those chaps.

I'm self taught when it comes to poker, although if it wasn't for my older brothers playing other cards games with me when I was young I probably wouldn't love the game as much as I do now :)
