I do but it has its struggles
i mean , people who are playing poker everyday , poker brings them good money ☝️they don't need to find job☝️they don't need to work[emoji120]
I play poker professionally (anywhere from 5-10 to 50-100) Its not easy worn and I’m sure I’m not the first one to tell you. It is definitely a grind. It took months/even years to be profitable. A lot of learning, studying your opponents, hand history, etc. It becomes a real job in a sense. After all, you are working 8-9 hour days at the table which is the equivalent to a normal working day for average person. Actually, if you’re really into the game, you never get a break. Even if you’re not in a hand, you still stay alert (or should) to study your opponents and see how they play specific
hands; watch for
tells, betting patterns etc.
I started out as a 1/3 cash player at a young age - 2/5 if I even felt lucky and had a decent bankroll. That was even more of a grind, but at a young age, raking up small Ws and leaving on a high note was good. Of course there are those bad days when you cant catch a hand to save your life and you’re just feeding the donks on their suckouts. Or you’re just getting coolered by better hands even when you think you have the nuts. That’s poker after all. I would have sessions where I would bring it anywhere between 3-350 dollars a day and then have maybe 1 or 2 bad days where I’d lose that amount playing 1-2 or 1/3. Being in the + with an average of 900-1200 a week was awesome; plus you’re not claiming taxes and it’s clear cash.
I’d say if you’re considering this to be a profession, start practicing and getting good enough to play at a more moderate to higher level. The low limits take time to build. Although you can make a killing playing 1/3 or 2/5 - it all depends on what you see as a good outcome. For me, as a single guy with no tie downs like kids or a nagging wife, a 1000 dollar week clear was pretty good. Nowadays at 35, I’ve become interested in other things like nicer cars , homes, going on vacations etc where 1000 is still respectable but not really living the life kind of money
If you’re good enough to win a big tournament, this helps tremendously. Most people blow their winnings right away. Of course the sucky part is, the money is taxed - BOO LOL, but be smart and invest a good half of it, if not 3/4 and save the rest for play
