I will answer for myself, I have a small business and I really like it, so from playing poker, I get pleasure and rest during the game! Good game!

Well, if you are a successful player, then yes, of course! It all depends on your goals and preparation!

If you are working, why will you not go to work? maybe irresponsible persons?
the same ones that play Poker instead of going to School, or take care of their children.

Poker should be play when there is free time, unless you are a professional Poker player and then, your work is to play poker! :deal:

Agree with you. And want to say that earn money for life can only 10% of all poker players. And now question work or play?!!!

I think lots of people can,t make poker as a work. You know, some people have family,s and kids, so you need to work somewhere else. And after you came from the work, of course you can play poker, watch some videos and try to win some money.

very few are able to live and sustain a lifestyle of any kind on poker and poker winnings alone. Many of the pros find other sources of income to supplement there winnings.

It would be nice to play poker and not work but its more of a hobby or type of relief for me. I just enjoy playing the game.

But if I was able to make enough to quit my job and play poker all day then poker would still be my job right?

Good Luck to those of you who are trying to achieve this goal!

For a pro, going to the casino means going to work, playing online means, well, working from home. If your source of income is poker, poker becomes your job. Reading strategy, grinding, making tough folds, being observant to everything happening around you is not always fun and enjoyable.

I play poker professionally (anywhere from 5-10 to 50-100) Its not easy worn and I’m sure I’m not the first one to tell you. It is definitely a grind. It took months/even years to be profitable. A lot of learning, studying your opponents, hand history, etc. It becomes a real job in a sense. After all, you are working 8-9 hour days at the table which is the equivalent to a normal working day for average person. Actually, if you’re really into the game, you never get a break. Even if you’re not in a hand, you still stay alert (or should) to study your opponents and see how they play specific hands; watch for tells, betting patterns etc.

I started out as a 1/3 cash player at a young age - 2/5 if I even felt lucky and had a decent bankroll. That was even more of a grind, but at a young age, raking up small Ws and leaving on a high note was good. Of course there are those bad days when you cant catch a hand to save your life and you’re just feeding the donks on their suckouts. Or you’re just getting coolered by better hands even when you think you have the nuts. That’s poker after all. I would have sessions where I would bring it anywhere between 3-350 dollars a day and then have maybe 1 or 2 bad days where I’d lose that amount playing 1-2 or 1/3. Being in the + with an average of 900-1200 a week was awesome; plus you’re not claiming taxes and it’s clear cash.

I’d say if you’re considering this to be a profession, start practicing and getting good enough to play at a more moderate to higher level. The low limits take time to build. Although you can make a killing playing 1/3 or 2/5 - it all depends on what you see as a good outcome. For me, as a single guy with no tie downs like kids or a nagging wife, a 1000 dollar week clear was pretty good. Nowadays at 35, I’ve become interested in other things like nicer cars , homes, going on vacations etc where 1000 is still respectable but not really living the life kind of money

If you’re good enough to win a big tournament, this helps tremendously. Most people blow their winnings right away. Of course the sucky part is, the money is taxed - BOO LOL, but be smart and invest a good half of it, if not 3/4 and save the rest for play
