I have been playing poker all my life and have won many tourneys live and online. I do much better live versus online. Online it seams like everyone wins. I have watched so many bad bad players make final tables and win. Is it just luck or software? Bad players don't do well live. I am just asking what everyone else thinks. So If you have never won online I would like to know.

I took 1 place many times in minor tournaments and a couple of times in good cash online. I didn't have to play live.

this question obsesses me every day.

even if I do not play much for lack of means on several thousand players. I have never managed to rank better than 8th in a tournament and in the majority of cases, when I can play well and earn pennies I never reach the final table.

because every time the game is tightened I do not touch any good cards or bad bid AA KK ect ..

You do not need to look at it a lot, because if you play well with standard time, you will achieve that success as far as winning the first place. Only slowly and you will succeed, just ahead!

Personally, Haven't played a lot of tournaments over the last year, but to make the 1st prize is always a challenge. Your skill, table image, and variance have to be on your way in a big portion of the MTT.

When people get a huge downswing in Tournaments, they blame the other players or the poker room, but it's hard for them to recognize their own weaknesses.

You need to first play a lot of tournaments to get good in them and then overcome variance, so it must be common that you feel like you can never run really deep in them. Variance is so strong in MTTs that there will be long periods of time without a minimum cash, let alone a podium spot. The good thing is that when you do cash that first place it will be worth it :)

Live is more tedious because you can't play as many hands per hour. If you do bust it hits you harder because you wasted more time overall. The upside is that live tournaments are supposedly softer so you can run deeper (and they offer larger prizes most of the time).

if see who how to play, as for me think that they have some skill & this does not mean that they play worse, they just beat you, and thus in this tournament deserved the advantage to play more hands, destroying the table.

In order to be successful in online MTT you have to have a distance. You can't expect to win a couple tournaments a week if you play a couple tournaments every day. Even the top regs have 500 BI down streaks, just think about it. Variance is huge. You have to grind in order to win.

I think part of the issue is players are better online than live. I have won on both thankfully bet only once live with a 2nd place. The thing is I play 100 online tournament per 1 live is part of the issue. One reason winning is harder on line is just the amount of players you are against. Many of the tournament I am playing online have 500+ players in them. Based on the about 200 tournaments I play per year I should on average win once every 2 1/2 years. Its not easy to win when playing against so many players and that is part of the reason win don't win as often as we would like.

So OP is trying to say that pokerstars is rigged, right? You are wrong, I don't think pokerstars is rigged. Next time when you see bad player at final table, check them in sharkscope and you will see that they are losing ton of money. It's just this time they got lucky and made it to final table.

winning is hard

I have about 100 games on ACR so far and have won one 1500gtd $2 buy in.

I didn't just start playing though. I used to play a lot about ten years ago but stopped playing online after black friday.

I don't think it is easy to win any online mtt, not even freerolls. It is hard enough to make a final table.

You should try not to measure your success in poker by wins or losses, only by the quality of your play. If you continue playing this game for any significant amount of time you will lose while playing your best. You will also win while playing your best. Just keep playing and focus on learning and improving as best you can. That is all you can do.

In my opinion to win the tournament online actually. To do this : poker knowledge and the ability to implement them during the game; avoid mistakes; mistakes of opponents and a lot of luck, especially in fast tournaments.

I consider myself not a strong player, but every time I leave the tournament and analyze losing hands. I understand that I make mistakes. And every time I try to fix them and prevent during the game. And the result is better.
