who likes omaha??

i will do these simple question to everybody because in my personal opinion i hate very much omaha... its an imposible game, with lot of luck involved and with lots of callers in all the hands.
in all the horse freerolls tournaments i have played, in the omaha time of playing i always try to fold, however there are some times in whick i decide to enter in the pot, with very good combinations but all the time when i hit something good like a straight or a flush my opponents have a better combination (higher straight and higher flush, full house, etc)
so my question is who likes omaha and who hate it ( like me lol) and tell me the reasons...

you hate it because you obviously have no idea how to play the game. do a little reading and then try to play. there are 2 forms of the game (aside from the betting forms) High-low and high. I personally prefer high-low. It's fun and there are more types of hands you can play.

I just finished 11th a few minutes ago in a pokerstars Omaha FR (out of 6000+), qualifying me for Satuday's big 2k. I do better at Omaha than Holdem. I know this will sound conceited, but Omaha requires a bit more analytical skill, and is not 'as much' the bluffing game as holdem. Omaha is typically limit (in HORSE), or pot limit. If you're playing H/L, it adds a whole other dimension to the game. You need to be acutely aware of who might be betting what at ALL times, depending on the cards that come (low draw, low arrival or lack thereof). Some people raise all the time with pocket aces or ace-2 naked (no 3 or 4) (if H/L), usually a move that bites 'em in the ass.

You might think it's luck, but it's really no different than holdem with regard to that. You simply must be aware that with 4 cards in the hold, more will be likely to get a str8 or flush or boat should almost ANY opportunity arise. Was in a hand this morning where 3 (!!!) people had flushes. This will never happen in holdem, not with just 3 of a suit on the board. And if your str8 isn't the nut one (even with no flush or boat possibilty), be wary if it's not the NUT one. And you see people overvalueing all kinds of hands, particularly funny after the river, depending on it. And I've also mentioned this before, but people make mistakes when there are trips or 2 pair on the table. Simple as that (without going into detail :laugh: ), mistakes.

Personally, Omaha is a far more interesting game than holdem, hi or H/L. I agree with KMC - more hands to play (sometimes FEWER though), you just got to learn, and that takes time & effort.

i like omaha hi so many outs its crazy ... omaha is wer u win big or lose big lol i had to stop playin it because of all the suck outs

I won 5 $ once in hold-em fr and than I played omaha-hi with it, I like it but you have to be very very tilt-proof. And I am not so I now I'm broke.

I've been trying to play super-micro (.01/.02) PL Omaha on Stars lately to switch it up after a cold streak at NL hold-em that has lasted several weeks. Over the first 500 hands or so I'm close to even, just a little ahead, but I've played it on and off for the last few years at dealer's choice live home games. I think the thing with Omaha that takes me a lot of concentration to adjust to is only trying to draw to the nuts, which I think is one of the more important concepts in Omaha. If youre drawing to the K high flush with 5-6 players in the hand, chances are someone's drawing to the A high flush. Same things go with open-ended straights, trips, etc.

PL Omaha hi low is a fun game at times but if you get a stretch of bad cards you'll be wishing you hadnt even taken a seat at the table. haha, pots get big, object is to get both the low and high pot. Fun game.

I think Omaha can be a very fun game if you know the rules and what are the good starting hands. I love to play Omaha, Stud or Razz when I need to take a break from Holdem. It helps me to re-focus, because Omaha makes you pay attention to other people's hands visible on the table besides your own.
But let me tell you how I happened to learn the game...lol...I know for a fact this has happened to very many people. I joined a $1.25 SNG at FT, the game starts and suddenly I end up with 4 cards in my hand...that's when i realized I had joined the wrong game. Of course my bankroll was low at a time and I was reaaaaallllly mad at my own mistake. So I googled the game, piceked up the rules and at the end, finished 3rd...phewwww....
So Lewis, check out some Omaha do's and don'ts and you might actually start enjoying the game.

I'm really getting into omaha at the moment - only at microstakes 2/4c and a few $5 tourneys. Won't go any higher until I know more about it. But what's clear is that you aren't going to be winning many hands with TP!

I think someone above pointed out, the higher ranked hands (straights, flushes etc) make more appearances. If there's a pair on the board on a full ring game, you should generally expect to see a full house.

yes, there's lots of pre-flop callers but that means the main skill of the game is in a) recognising what makes a good pre-flop hand (AA isn't as powerful as in holdem) and your post-flop play.

The thing so beautiful about Omaha, is that so many will throw $$$ into the pot, when the usual axoim is this (and not sure where I've heard it - could have been here, but it's usually true...) "In omaha, the kiss of death is the nuts after the flop". Pretty damn funny, eh? Raise once maybe to weed out weak is fine (good omaha players may check with what might be nuts (like 2 pair after the flop), I've seen it), don't start a re-raise pissing match until the river - it's pointless, especially if the villain catches.

The most powerful hands are the better drawing hands (like once or double suited and the cards close for a str8 (i.e. 9h 10s Qh Ks - great case scenario)). If you're lucky enough to draw them on the flop, much cool. If there is a pair or 3 suit on flop (or after), and you don't HAVE one, fold (depending on how many in & whether or not it's turn or river). It's most unfortunate.

im not a fan of omaha, but if i had to choice, i would pick omaha hi/lo.
also i agree it is a lot of luck, but the only thing i like of omaha is that it is pot limit, so rarely you can go all in preflop.

To be honest i think omaha is a very interesting game. Unlike Hold'em, Omaha in order to win you either have to make a great call and/or even have the nuts. Since you are dealt 4 cards it's easier for people to try to see the flop, with that being said you can pretty much risk a lot of money just seeing the flop. I've played omaha a couple of times and it's pretty fun, especially when there are donks calling when you have the nuts . In my opinion i think you just have to play the nuts for you to be successful in omaha. Good luck to ya'll at the tables!

thanks for the comments, are really useful. but let me asked you another question... how can you do a good bankroll managment playing these style of game??? if in all the hands there are many people who enter in the game and the pots are very high, how can someone with a terrible streak didnt went broke??? maybe playing ALL THE TIME fixed games or 0.1$ ,0.2$ pl?? can you played at higher stakes omaha with no risks of losing all your money in one hand?? can you fold easily trips or lower straights when you feel your opponent have a flush or a better straight???? if you are a tight player and you are in a mult table tournament, and most people in thne table are loose players who raise preflop all the time how can you play with them???... its obviously that omaha is a very tough game, for that reason i preffer holdem, stud and razz..... not omaha please!!!!, however i will try to improve my omaha skills whick arent a lot really lol

I used to be an omaha addict. It was a very exciting game to me, until i got to be very good at tournament holdem. Omaha can be a crapshoot game, but there are players that specialize and thrive playing it. If its not for you its not for you; for example i strongly dislike razz, not for me. GL!

I have grown to like Omaha...LIKE...not love thought. The more I play, the better I get, the more I can tolerate it lol. I prefer Omaha h/l over PL Omaha.

I pefer pot limit omaha heads up if you don't like players catching hands and giong all in before the flop i agree there's too many possibiltes for that pocket aces normally won't hold up you just never know, you should trying playing omaha heads up i've grown to like it myself

Deleted part of the post....neeeded to shorten it up.

While a lot of people will tell you that freerolls are not a good learning tool. When you're trying to learn a game like Omaha, freerolls are a GREAT learning tool. Part of Omaha is knowing what you have...especially online when you only have 15 seconds to act.

With this new summer game thing on PokerStars, I've found that I am liking different poker games..Limit holdem being one of them.

Anyway, before I played for any amount of money, I would try a few freerolls. There is also the 10 cent option on pokerstars, they have a 10 cent 240 man SnG. Top 24 pay i think.........Good luck to you on the tables.

I like omaha H/L, I think it's a great game. It just takes a little while to get the hang of, but it's a good game.

Well, for one, is it that difficult to fold if you really believe your opponent has a better hand?
And second, trips is not a good hand in Omaha! Straights are usually not much either! If there's 3 to a straight on the board and you have the bottom cards for the straight, you can generally be sure that somebody has the upper end of the straight in his hand. If there's 3 of a suit on the board, somebody has the flush. If there's a pair on the board, somebody has the full house (or better).

if you are a tight player and you are in a mult table tournament, and most people in thne table are loose players who raise preflop all the time how can you play with them???... its obviously that omaha is a very tough game, for that reason i preffer holdem, stud and razz..... not omaha please!!!!, however i will try to improve my omaha skills whick arent a lot really lol

You always have to pick your battles! Do you mean players who play loose, or who play TOO loose? If the latter, be selective about the hands you play and gladly take their chips.

I HATED OMAHA...until I converted to masochism.

I just have to keep reminding myself that if I do not have the stonecoldnuts at the end of it all, I lose. And yes, if I flop the nuts, I can actually feel my blood pressure rising.

I wouldn't say I like it better than Hold Em, but if you know how to play and have some good strategies just like any type of poker, Omaha can be very fun and rewarding.

I like Omaha Hi

Omaha Hi is a such a great game... it goes pretty fast, and you have a better chance of looking at some great hands come out... you got to be more patient, and know when to make your play... you can't play it like hold'em or you'll be in trouble pretty fast...

I didn't like omaha until I manage to cash out in one of the Freeroll Army freerolls.....now it seems like good game,not like holdem but good!

I like playin Omaha hi/low because there is lots of action. But like most people say its hard to put your opponent on a hand.

I like playing too much omaha hi / lo, in most tournaments won some money, is my favorite game, there are a lot of action and excellent hands
