I stayed last week in Luxor and I had a great experience there! even tho it is almost at an end of the strip the atmosphere is great and I would definitely consider staying there again!

This casino is great rooms are up to date and clean! The atmosphere there is great and the price is great as well.

Sams Town

I tried out Sams Town once to play poker. A friend told me about it and I had a really good time while I was playing. The craziest thing happened about a hour into playing. A old guy on another table turned blue and dropped dead right in front of us all! They had to stop the games while the EMT's tried to bring him back to life. If you ever want to see a real local place to play poker, this is your place for sure!

:)

Yikes!! Most definitely an unforgettable experience.

So, have you been back since? Did you camp or stay at the hotel?

Is the Linq poker room back up?

I heard the Linq is dealing poker again. Didn't they have a 1-1 NL game?

Bellagio has great poker room

Part of the fun at the Bellagio poker room is that you are almost assured to see some of the top pros playing there. There is a small room within the poker room, Bobby's room, where I have seen Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivy, Huck Seed and others. They leave the door to Bobby's room open so you can watch from about 20 feet away....just thought it was fun.

The hotel itself is quite beautiful, with many decent places to eat. Rooms are very nice.

Beauty off the strip

Took my son to Vegas for his 21st birthday. Didn't want him to get hooked on gambling, so we decided to stay at the Red Rock Casino in Summerlin, about 20 minutes off Las Vegas Blvd. This way, we looked at things to do outdoors. Red Rock Canyon is gorgeous....went there 3 days in a row; the first time for the 13 mile drive....great photo ops. The second time, we parked and hiked in the rocks....that was fun. The third time, my son and I hired a rock climbing guide, and climbed for several hours....what a blast. I got tired after a few climbs, but my son went on about 10 climbs....it was about $400 for the 2 of us.

The casino at Red Rock was nice, and had $5 table games at all times of the day (at least 3 blackjack tables). The poker room was OK....nothing to write home about. It was usually a long wait time to get into a $1-2 table.

A nice change if you want more to do than gamble 24-7.

Live poker rooms?

I briefly went thru the threads, found a lot of good info for online, however I just did not see a lot of posts with regards to live action.
In my opinion the best poker room for small stakes grinders is at the Gold Nugget ( keep in mind I am only speaking of cash games)

Secondly I will take Excalibur ,,,both of these casinos have a lot of tourists who seem to dump into a 1 2 game,,,also if you are really short on your bank roll the Nugget plays a regular 2 4 limit game with all bonuses applicable

My last trip to Las Vegas was for my son's 21st birthday (family tradition). I didn't want to make the trip all about the gambling only, so we stayed off the strip at the Red Rock Resort, which is 5 minutes from Red Rock Canyon. The canyon was absolutely beautiful....we went 3 times, the 3rd time my son and I went rock climbing...it was great....and it was good to have something to do outside a casino....we also saw 2 shows. The hotel was new and clean, but it had $5 blackjack tables....at all times, even after dinner hour. The poker room was just OK, but I had to wait long times to get to sit at a $1/2 NLHE table.

Vegas information post

Hi all

Please could somebody let me know a couple of things about Vegas? I am interested in knowing

Location of the main clubs/bars on the strip (to help up choose a hotel)
Location of some busy poker rooms that regulary run small stakes cash games (ideally max $200 buy in)

If anybody is even able to suggest a hotel bang inbetween the best clubs and best card room that would be awesome, but any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks
