Just when I think I have a really good thing going, most of the donks and maniacs seem to have disappeared from poker stars. Been playing a ton of $.25 NLO8 ring games over the past 2+ months and you can always pretty much count on a bunch of money going in pre-flop (at most times anyway). Plus, there's a ton of chasers that are usually good for calling $.50-$1 trying to chase low or a 4-outer after the flop.

Well, the last 4 days this has absolutely flip-flopped. There's a crap load of games going but the VP$IP has been running between 20-30% or lower, with crappy avg pots of $1-$2! Even when you find a game slightly better than that, people aren't calling anything... almost any pre-flop agression means a round of folds in most cases. I just don't get what could have changed. I thought that this 2X PS FPP special would have brought more donks out but it seems to have done the opposite.

There are about a half dozen ridiculously tight players that are sitting down at 4-8 tables each and helping to just kill the action. Now, I'm a pretty tight player myself, but these guys are ridiculous! I'm talking about VP$IP of between 3-8% for the most part. These guys pretty much just sit there and only play hands like AA2x or AA3x, etc and then usually push all in with thieir huge stack of $5. Now sure, everyone has the right to play, but mostly all of these guys are losing players, so I just dont get it. The whole thing just seems really wierd... not only are they killing $ pot action but nobody is getting any VPPs cuz most of the pots are a joke!

Anyone know what's going on?

i guess the donkeys are running out of money and the remaining people are learning?

Fingers crossed that some nobody (preferably a freeroll internet qualifier) wins the main event and there'll be a whole bunch of them back.

The donks aren't gone, they're just outnumbered. With the double FPP/VPP this week, tons of regs are playing more tables than normal, and grinding.

I got the same impression at pokerstars and at Fult tilt

At cash games now a lot of skilled players want to take advantage of the donks. so ... If the good players getting more the win percentage is getting lower

Therefore I m playing now a lot of tournaments - It more difficult to play all the stages of a tournament right -so I win more in that tournaments than in sngs or cashs

It's the holiday weekend. All of the donks are either in Vegas for the Main Event (because they continually rivered dax on bodog and have $10K ;) ) or they are in AC ruining 1/2 NL tables everywhere. :D

Agree with smd ^ - It's a holiday weekend so most of the non-regular players (shall we say) are out with their fam's. It's us reg's that are still here playing. Not only are the reg-reg's playing, but the promo is bringing out the other regular players who may have taken the weekend off. Wait until next week when you get your normal "at the office" & "drunk after the bar" crowd again.

Also, it would be AWESOME if a woman could win the main event! Talk about major coverage, plus an entire new group of donks (no offense to ladie, just inexperienced ladies) who think "Wow, I could win $xXM too!

Poker is seriously getting tougher. At least at pokerstars. There are still plenty of fish left in the sea, if you know where to look. Hopefully the donks never get sick of losing money...

Blame it on the man.

There is less easy money because of the US online poker laws. The bad players' money is diminishing and there are fewer and fewer of them.

Because of the difficulty in making new deposits, the pool is drying up and there are less and less fish surviving and the amount of sharks is just getting higher in comparison to fish.

Well, not to worry... tonight all was back as it should be! Donks and maniacs all over the place on my $.25 NL O8 tables at PS. Played for about 3 hours and almost every table (5-6 at a time) I was on was 40% and up. In fact, a couple of them were insane! Over 60% avg table VP$IP with 4-5 guys over 70-75%!!! These idiots kept going all in (3-5 of them) almost every hand.. and with complete crap mind you... my favorite was a guy who put in $20 PF with T-T-4-8 rainbowed... gotta love that! Anyway, racked up way more FPPs on that table in 2 hours than on any 4 tables combined during the rock-fest last week.

Nice to see things back to normal... and then some!
