I think i wrote a thread on this issue a couple of years ago. I saw the live stream of the little ft and one player in particular Mario Lopez was taking a reallly long time too fold hands that looked as through he should have mucked 10 secs. So my question is when is the best time too call a clock on someone how long can u let them tank for?

I just don't think players are ever going to a good job a policing themselves in this area. Part of the reason is a tradition of not wanting to rush another player. The only thing likely to work is a shot clock.

In the event referred to by the OP, they were down to fifteen hands an hour. FIFTEEN! Unacceptable. It's going to take a while to work out the mechanics of a shot clock. The time to start is now.

Cheers!

I've never called the clock on anyone. honestly i like to see how the hand plays out, and why the guy took so much time to make a decision

The only time I have ever called a clock was when a player was continuing to stall every hand they played. Generally I allow players to take all the time they need unless it seems like its some kind of strategy of theirs to drive the pace of the game down.
