When do you think you should turn pro?....

I love playing poker and as we all invest money into it it can be costly. All of you pros out there i have a few questions. When did you realise that you were good enough to become a pro? I play poker a fair amount but i am not good enough to do it full time. Also how much money do you make and for long do you have to work to make that? What limits do you play at and finally do you play in side games or in tourneys only, or both.

This is something I have been toying with for quite some time now. I have a fair bit saved up at the moment but don't feel that my game is consistant enough to make the move yet.

Hard question to answer, I think when you feel that the reward outways the risk. When you can afford to lose your first 5-10--20 toruneys and not lose your house. Sure there are beginners who get lucky like the 23 yr old on the WPT but the majority go home without making the money. Be careful, but good luck.

i dont think, unless youre just that good/lucky, that full time poker is every a good idea. I mean one good tourny is a lot of money, but I have a friend who plays full time and his lifestyle is so stressful. I could never put up with it, and hes up good money.

Tourneys are becoming so hard to win.

I went full time by accident. I was in my 20's, no job and would play $2/$4 to make some Spending cash. I just slowly moved up the stakes chart and never went back to a regular job.

Something you eed to keep in mind. About 10% of al Poker Players profit over their entire career. That 10% figure is calculated considering all poker players, not just full time.

Eventually I would like to be able to make enough money to quit my job and play online but I doubt I ever will.

The only way you will know is when you start to see a profit on what you are investing, a regular profit and enough to live on a I guess.

I would imagine you need to be very disciplined and set yourself a limit for the day.

I am hoping to save up enough to invest even $50 a week and see if I can convert it into say $200 by the weekend, just to start
