Okay so when I say "single most thing" I don't mean reviewing your hand histories or playing. I mean something like a book you read, a forum you read, watching poker streamers, watching poker on TV, your dad etc etc.

I'm just curious, the reason being is because when I get deep into studying poker I actually find I waste a lot of time downloading loads of books, or sometimes I even watch videos repeatedly by accident cause I forgot I already watched it ages ago.

So back to the top, what has helped your poker game the most. If there is more than one thing, just shout.

the best way to improve your game is just the time, the distance! without playing you will not be able to find your mistakes and fix them! no coach will help you if you do not play!

I consider that watching poker streams helped in mayor way to understand the game better.

The only thing that improoves my poker game is playing as much as I can and gather and analyse the experiences.

The ability to endure. It is very difficult. But it's worth it.

Good to hear all the different views here. Hand analysis in CC has helped me a lot in being able to analyse my own hand a lot better. YouTube is a world of knowledge that I wouldn't be able to live without.

Online allows one to gain experience quickly. Nothing else compares to playing a lot of hands.

2+2 can suck it. Can't stand that forum. So many ignorant trolls who just want to destroy people ruin it for all the good people there.

all my poker history started here in CardsChat I got here in the forum, I did not know anything about poker ... when I entered FCR I could not win anything, but I was watching the players with good results and trying to play the same ... the theoretical study only makes sense when you have the practice .... to evolve in poker join practice and study

I think the best way to improve your game is to read forums/books while practise. You should also try too look from the other players side. I think too many players just asume villain is a donk when they loose to a play they never would make themselves.

One think that helped me was to experiment with other styles. I used to play very tight. One day I decided to open raise/call any (reasonable) bet with any hand with "value" (any Ax suited, any suited connecters/gappers, any pair, any two broadway) from any position while playing rebuy tournys. This is obvius not a great stategy to stick to, but I feel I learned a lot.

I was really helped by the training videos, but in fact I believe that the more practice in the game, the better you will play

I did not have to read books. I just read on the Internet how to play Hold'em, a combination. A little theory on the site pokerstrategy. The rest is my personal experience.

I watch training videos on poker, as well as a video where the mistakes of other players are sorted out

I'm loving all the replies, it's giving me a better insight into what I need to do in order to take my game to the next level. I think anyone that does want to improve (at any level) should always be looking for better ways in which to spend their time off the table.

I've found studying to be very effective, I find it even more effective when I take a break from the hard core studying and just play for a couple of days. Like people say, the brain is a muscle and needs time to recuperate and absorb the new information that is flowing in. After a few days break from studying, I genuinely feel sharper.
