I was curious if Dusty Schmidt had moved to a different site to play, moved out of the country to play or moved onto a live game since Black Friday? I really enjoyed his post here.

Havent heard much from him lately.

Yeah he'd advertised his book enough and has now left, dont kid yourself into thinking that the pro's will stick around here, part from blackrain as he seems to be decent enough so far, posting in HA etc

To be fair to Dusty he is no longer a DTB coach but a Bluefire coach. BF has no relationship with CC that I'm aware of. Also, according to his blog he is focusing more on golf and less on poker these days so its natural that he isn't on the poker forums a lot.

I think his well was quite interesting and good value for allowing him to hawk his book IMO.

I do agree that Blackrain has been awesome in his willingness to join HA threads.

I didn't even know he'd left DtB but yeah his thread here was a benefit to everyone involved. He likely sold some books, CC got some good content/publicity, and the members here got to have a ton of questions answered. No need to expect him to stick around beyond that one thread.

I'll also chime in that it's great to see BlackRain posting here. He really seems to be posting as part of the community but I guarantee you he's here to sell some books too and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I believe he is off "Returning To The Game I Love" and "Treating Golf Like Poker" or so his Blog says.

Poker versus Gulf
+1 Poker

Here is a link to his blog. Read the last 4 posts or so to get a complete picture.

[Link no longer works]

Cliffs: He took 200 dollars and has run it up to about 20K on Merge (Black Chip).

He is focusing most of his time on golf as he is taking one last shot at going pro.

He realizes that it is a long shot and he will probably return full time to poker but for right now golf > poker. He is, however still grinding.

I disagree with his stance on huds (self serving and hiipocritical IMO) and at times his style can be a bit grating but there is no denying that he is a beast at poker. He has managed his affairs in such a way that he has the time and opportunity to pursue what he wants to in life. I admire that.

Just to be completely transparent, I made a conscious decision to start posting more on all forums (not just this one) a couple of months before I released my book. While I am a DTB coach I honestly had no idea that we had a relationship with CC until after I joined. Also, nobody asked me to join here either.

Ya, posting in a bunch of different places and getting my name out there obviously does not hurt when you have a product to sell but I also honestly just do it to try and help people as well. And it is absolutely my goal to continue posting here and elsewhere at least on a semi-regular basis for the long haul. It kind of annoys me that some of these other guys couldn't at least drop by once in awhile just to give a little bit back. But that is their choice.

Thanks for the kind words. CC is a great community and I enjoy chatting with you all! :)

It's great to have you here Nathan. Always nice to be able to point to you when someone comes along talking about how micro stakes are unbeatable. :)

Yep - it's a win-win for all of us - nothing wrong with them selling a few books along the way.

I just wanna chime in here as well. I though Dusty's time here was well worth any benefit he may have gotten from it. (Like his one book says) It is a business, and there is no reason for someone not to let you know they have something for sale, when they are giving something back as well, and Dusty did give a lot of players his time to answer stuff, which, as said above, is simply win-win.

And Nathan (Blackrain79) is more then generous with his time and knowledge. He is a great win for us here at CC IMO, since he goes well beyond the minimum of what he would need to do to justify being able to get some free advertizing. Here it is a win-win as well, but I tend to think we players come out a bit ahead. Kudos to you Nathan!!
