Are you a aggressive or passive poker player? I am more of a passive player at first. I mainly play hands that has a good chance of winning and rarely ever bluff. I only get aggressive when I am down to my last chips... What about you?

I try to stay aggressive. Almost every book/article/video I've seen seems to recommend a tight aggressive style (assuming, of course, your table conditions don't dictate changing gears) So, that's the way I play most of the time and it seems to be working so far.

When I started out playing poker, I was a very passive player. I didn't want to get into many confrontations and always used to call rather than raise or re-raise. When I registered for tournaments, I always used to try and make sure I min-cashed instead of going for the win. Aggressive players saw through this and exploited me. I then changed the whole mentality of how I played the game. I needed to be more aggressive. I followed through with this style and before I knew it, I starting winning and became a more profitable player because of it. I believe the key is to always be the aggressor, always be the initiator and to call less.

Seems like online it is easer to go against your personality, have you had this success in live games?

My standard is to be more agressive than passive, but it depends of the stage of the tournament too!!
The agressivity tends to get higher with the progression of the tournament, with good hands or bluffing.
Depends of the other players on the table too.

Everytime try to be different. In some situation you must to be very aggressive, but sometimes not. You better use all manners of playing. More you can - more you win.

I just start playing poker, and i must say that i play passive but at least almost all of the game i end on bubble or in cash. Sometimes i try to play agressive but only sometimes it give me what i want :) The main thing is to try and learn how to play ;)

I ideally play aggressively most of the time. However you should play whatever style works best for you against who you are playing. As Ijstephens says, you must adjust to what your players are doing and increase gear when necessary, just before the bubble etc............Gl :D:D:D

I try to mix it up so I am not predictable. I seldom bluff and hardly ever show. I also like to trap aggressive players when I have the nuts.

When stakes are high I'm passive.
When it's not much to lose, I usually play very agressive.

Change gear always.

Sometimes, you will be aggressive and sometimes be passive.

Depend much on many things like table dynamics, cards, opponents, etc.

I am a TAG, but primarily play based on my position and how the others at the table are playing. Position, Chips and Cards just like Rock Paper Scissors, one always trumps another.

That is a good way of putting it. I agree with a lot of you all above. It mostly do depends on the situation and how other players around you are playing. More often than not, I stick to playing passive though unless somebody else is playing too aggressive.

At the beginning I was a very passive player. In that time this was the right strategy for me. The more I learned about poker, the more I became an aggressive player.

Aggressive or Passive

I am both at the same time, like to press the action but try to play to the cards or to the players.

I'm both, or at least I try to be. Keeps the table guessing (well, when you are at a table full of players who are capable of playing at that level and observing your playstyle).
