Here is my problem. First they shouldnt be allowed. Period! And Everyone on Sportsbetting says if you can see a location, they are a bot. You cant get them to talk to you, and there are tons. I wrote the site, and they said they do not allow locations to be shown, and that the people are doing it from their end. That in itsself makes no sense. I just run into one/idiot that put me in everhand with junk, busting my aces. They dont always play that crazy.

What do you think?

I think you are just confusing "bots" with winning regs.

my stance on bots is that they do not exist - only in your mind

if they do - good - id rather play a table of bots than people any day!

if you are scared play at poker stars, no bots guaranteed

Why would you rather play at a table full of bots, than people? Just a question.

I dont doubt that losing, and even break even regs believe in bots.

Because bots play under a set of parameters, they have to be programmed to play a certain way. It would not take very many hands to figure out most of the parameters and be able to exploit them. Bots - in theory - play to achieve very little in terms of gains per hour, just consistent gains with no effort, they are not there to win a lot, or be tricky, or make moves, just straight solid poker by the math - easy to exploit

Dont worry about bots - they are harmless even if they do exist

Interesting, but that sounds like no challenge at all. To each it's own.

Bots do exist, but they won't win at any meaningful stakes, and won't last on a site like Pokerstars that has actual security. Eventually bots will kill online poker I'm guessing unless a real solid detection method is found for them.

this is wishful thinking I see all the time. depends how sophisticated the bot. I am sure if you programmed a bot to only ever play AQ-88+ and check when missed and bet when hit as parameters, which is what most people imagine it would be easily exploitable.

However a bot can be programmed much more sophisticated then that. computer programs have challenged the worlds elite at many games and usually the result goes there way. When it does not it is only the very exceptionally brilliant humans who can hold there own.

if bots like that made to the poker sites assuming they have not already, only a handful of the worlds elite would stand a chance, and even then they may come out worse of from it.

it is staggering how many people live in denial, wishing this threat away because they do not want to accept the magnitude of the threat.

You may think this is possible, but to build a bot that can challenge even just a 'good' player would have to be really complicated - we are talking about millions of lines of code just to cover all the scenarios that can happen in a given game. Remember there are 2.5 million (appx) 5 card hands than can exist in a deck of 52 cards. Lets not even mention all of the different situations these hands can occur in. At the least you are talking 2-3 million lines of code to make a bot that is good enough to challenge good players.

Lets not forget, it took 40 years to build a computer good enough to beat the worlds best at chess, and most of the time it draws. And this computer is MASSIVE! No way there is a bot out there that I could not beat within a given (lengthy) session, as long as someone doesnt program it to hit and run lol

Most good websites - pokerstars, 888, titan, partypoker - do regular scans to make sure no one is using a bot - my recommendation do not play at a chumpy website and you will never have a problem. But again - dont fear the bots, if someone did make an AI BOT that can actually be good you wont find it at any low stake games since it probably cost $1 mill to make it.

I think a bot is playing if he/she are always going all in pre-flop and yup they don't talk at all

Given the arguments here I will have to conclude that unfortunately they do exist. knowing this fact I think is better to stay within the micro and Low stakes since you will assume they will go after big money.
Another action I will take is to start labeling suspects and act accordingly; not much else we can do.

No offense, but it is silly to worry about. I think if someone programmed a really good poker playing computer, they'd make more money selling it to poker players to practice against. That's how a lot of the chess engines are.

People going all-in on terrible hands are just trying to get lucky a few times to build a chip lead. They don't want to play if they don't double up a few times.

As far as the listed location, you have to tell the site if you want to publish it. A lot of the strange looking locations are simply cities and countries you may not be familiar with. And they probably don't chat back because they don't speak English. I'm sure a computer could be programmed to chat if it could play poker. Look at Siri for iphone. She chats and responds to questions.

Last night I saw a player whose location was listed as Lukovit, BG win a freeroll. I was curious where that might be, so I googled it. Lukovit is a small town in Bulgaria, and the player was super aggressive and, at times, super lucky, but definitely human!
