Generally speaking, I rarely get on tilt. Bad run of cards? Just how the game goes. Someone catches runner runner when trying to float? Happens once in a while and I'm guilty of dishing out the same. These are what I believe to just be a part of poker.

What really puts me on tilt is a certain demeanor. There's some people who are just there for laughs, joke around and I'm fine with that. But there's others that just think they're genuinely badass. Who have animated reactions when winning a pot, having confidence is one thing but douchery is a whole other level. And I admit, these guys are like my kryptonite. I widen my range against them and try to outplay them every chance I get.

Specifically speaking, I play mid-high stakes live tournaments. I'm not a profitable player when it comes to cash but sometimes, I have to go to the casino early to register or have some time to kill in between tournaments. To kill time, I play 1/2 $40 buy-in NLHE. Most of the players are genuinely pleasant to play with but there's a few douches that just think they own the game. Like c'mon, you're playing the lowest of low buy-ins AND you think you're a genuine badass.

So, what puts you on tilt?

I go on tilt when everything else has failed. haha It usually happens after quite a few bad beats, as my patience and stack get very low. Sometimes, it just feels like luck is against you, and when you start feeling that way, you start getting a little emotional. lol

It is really hard to answer your question, it really is. I am struggling with this right now and found a video which can really help investigating your tilt and what cause it etc.

This is the book which i am planning to read also:

The mental game of poker

When I make bad plays and call exactly what the hand the guy has, but pay him off anyways

Personally, I'd have to say I'm good with tilt online but if their was something that does start up my tilt it's a combination of things such as .

1) A idiotic player hitting his cards continuously vs me and winning those small key pots that dwindle away at my stack (1st stage).

2) While I'm losing too that idiotic player and fuming at the losses of small key pots (not big ones), my family than making noise and what not (running around/yelling/turning up the t.v/coming in and out of the room/etc), that's when I lose all control and just lose hope in the said game

As for the game, nothing disturbs me, even I lose when had 95% equity in turn, and in river villain won with only one out...I will always be calm and know that I played correctly and on a distance will ahead.

But I can be in tilt, when distracting external environment around me, is when people touch or ask me something during the game, phone calls, stupid birds and so on.
It irritates me and I can start playing badly, make more mistakes and play more aggressively when it is not necessary.

Playing 4nl I pretty much accept a lot of players will make horribad mistakes frequently and get lucky sometimes.

What tilts me is when I make bad plays yet knowing I should not be making that mistake.

For me it would have to be this too. When people play non-premium hands, which of course isn't a bad thing, but then go on to feeling they're 'committed' because they PFR'd with 10-2 off because they like Doyle or dumb stuff like that.

I have to say I dont remember when I made some evidently stupid decision cause I got on tilt last time. Even If I am really mad after some ridiculous bad beat or if some idiot is at table, I can control my decisions. I am proud on myself for that :D

This is how I play in live 1/2 games. I'd probably put you two on tilt if I was on a hot streak. Sorry. :)

Oh, this is too true. Although, it doesn't tilt me too much, it does get annoying. There's times when you're just card dead and can't play a hand. That's cool, just be patient and boom, next thing you know it, it's been a few hours and you're down to 15bb.

Also the times when you're making the right moves but someone is always just a tiny bit ahead. Like out kicked by one point at the river, or getting 3-bet by nits several times when you have a decent raising hand like AJ late position but can't commit to the 4-bet.

I loooove this, you can actually bully him around cause he'll call a wider range against you and chase draws more aggressively.

At least you know what leaks you'll have to fix. I had this same issue and took quite a while to slowly patch them up. I'd suggest focusing on the mistakes that you're making one at a time until you improve, then move on to the next one. Helps you make decisions intuitively than decisively.

Usually when I get rivered for the majority of my stack by a hand that had less than 10 % chance of hitting and does pushes my buttons. To clarify I will have gotten the person to make the bad call to get payed off but instead lose on the river. For some reason to me losing on the turn isn't as bad as losing on the river even though they are both are the same. I don't tilt every time I get rivered but depending on how and when it happens decides which way I go.

I , of course, difficult to bring in the tilt , but you can , if you play well and lose bad players , and this bad luck last very long , but now I just set aside the game away and play later!
