I have a weakness of playing ANY pockets just to see if i can hit trips on the flop, probably not the smartest way to play....

If you can see a cheap flop you should not fold these small pocket pairs.

Doesn't matter how many times you have had bad experiences with them, set mining with small pockets is where you make a lot of money.

And whats with people saying they fold AK PF?

Usually i don't fold good cards PF, but i guess hands like A10os,Q10,J9 etc.

But it all depends on position.

Worst?

If you're folding big slick, a decent pp and decent suited connectors EVERYTIME, then 1) you are superstisous 2) emotionally affected by these somehow or 3) just starting. Although they are not considered power hands, they are far from the worst strting hands you could have. I mean, you don't toss big slick if you're folded to onna button, do you? Or even raised 2-3Xs BB, do you?? Myabe you do---anyway, the worst posable cards (for me) are A-6o-----and that IS personal! People see that A and immediatly will call or even RAISE preflop!!! And they are NOTHING cards! The BEST you can hope for is flopping 3-As!! No straight draw, no flush draw, NOTHING---just a hope anna prayer-----and each time I fold 'em, don't A-6-6 or A-A-6 get flopped?? Yup! A-6o, definatly A-6o!

Actually the 3 hands I listed I am both 1 and 2 when it comes to them. I have lost ALOT of money of of those cards and did not win for over 6 months playing AK o so yea. Now if I get any of those while in a blind ofc I will play them. I also knoiw the feeling about when you fold something and the nuts flops. pain the the ass for sure

So in other words you just contradicted your OP by saying you do play those hands sometimes.
So lets face it you get good cards your gonna play them. No matter what has happened in the past.
So to answer your OP,,, No there are no "good cards" that I fold automatically no matter what. It all depends on what I'm holding, whats my position and whats the action before me and the potential action to follow .

yes and no...If say I am in the BB with no raises mor than likely the same goes for the sb as well. I will see a flop yes. That is the extent of me playing the cards I listed though. Probably as another poster mentioned 100% is superstition and previous bad luck for those particular pair of evil money eating cards

77... I win 90% of this hand whenever I have. And also KK is the same.. I always have set at the flop with 77 or KK.. These are my favourite hands :)

I wouldn't fold a good preflop, but I'm not too keen about AA, KJ off suit, and anything below 10

Queens!!

This hand is strange, few weeks ago, I lost about 10 tourneys with this hand....someone would hit a set of 7s or something everytime i played.

The past couple weeks tho, QQ has rocked for me...I don't think there is an insta fold hand, depending on the situation i'll play 27o. (example I am small blind and BB is short stacked).

KJ is another hand.....it seems ALWAYS someone has AQ when i have KJ...LOLand they hit an ace or a queen and i miss. But this isn't and INSTA fold either...I'm just afraid of the hand.

Please don't think that I'm calling you an idiot, I'm not, but what you are saying is that you automatically fold two of the ten best starting hands in hold'em (AKo and 10 10) and a hand that a good player will almost always play in position in a multi-way pot if he can get in for cheap. I'm sorry, but you will lose more money over time with that attitude than you will or there where you lose a pot with those holdings.

I understand having bad luck with particular hands and not wanting to play them for fear you'll get burned again. Heck, Doyle Brunson has said that he won't play AQ (and that's a joke since I've seen him play it more than once on TV). But you can't play scared or you will get run over.

I absolutely HATE pocket Jacks.

If someone else has them and I have a higher pair then I can guarantee they will hit on the flop

If I have them you can bet I get busted by any combination of hands.

I never know what the hell to do with them, and how to play them just right..

i do not like to see pp jacks, or pp 10's, but i love to see pp 9's, lol, is there something wrong with me, lol, j/k. but, it does depend on the situation, to me. really, it's all about the size of my stack whether or not i play a certain hand. i might raise with one, and in another situation, fold the very same hand.

Plain and simple, you're burning money. AK is a power hand with great fold equity and should usually be re-raised pre-flop. The chance of pairing one of those cards by the river is nearly 50%. If you're consistently losing on these hands as you say, then you're playing them poorly.

Rather than trash hands you're playing poorly, why not learn more about the dynamics of the hand and learn to play them well?

You fold AK? And 10's? Regardless of position or previous action?

I might have a hard time making a decision depending on position and with a raise and a reraise, but it will take something significant for me to lay these down.

Maybe it's why I suck at poker, though.

ETA: Ok, never mind. Didn't read the whole thread. I see you will play them depending on other factors.

people who have "least favorite good cards" are doing something wrong. You play the ev of the hand and thats how you make money.

I dont fold them everytime, but i have folded them often. Pocket Jacks. Worst hand known to man. Everytime i play them, it seems that i lose with them. Im going to just start limping in with them.

i believe AK is very over rated hand

ive found the majority of the time when i move all in with this hand someone has a pocket pair and it always gets beat. i rarely connect on the flop with it aswell. This is where sum people go wrong , chasing AK right down to the river hoping to connect..

not a fan of this hand..

I'm with QQ has been killing me. Knocked out of two freerolls, three 10cents turbos, and a 2.25 tourny in last 6 days with QQ. It's killing me.

lol let's put it this way. If you don't win money with AKo there are 3 possible scenarios:

1. You are playing them badly
2. You haven't played enough to reach long term
3. The site is rigged

Most likely it's #2, you lose a few times with it, hate it, develop a superstition, and burn some more money because of your short-term money loss.

good analysis zach , im #2 on AKo i cant seem to pull the trigger with ace king on the flop even if it doesn't hit like i see alot of other players do.Im learning that the follow up bet is a must or the preflop raise is just a waste of time and money.
