That might depend upon where you are flying from, what type of place you're planning on staying at while in Vegas, & what Event you're planning on playing.

Depends where you're flying from.

From NY it's about $650 for airfare. WSOP rates for a week would run you another 400ish. So say $1100. $1500 event plus food for the week. 3k minimum to do it all.

Of course there are a ton of good $300-$500 tourneys at other casinos instead of WSOP tourneys.

It is sad to see that the US has a strong market of poker players and it is not available for most sites to allow US players!

This topic made me wonder, so started a search how much it would be when going from Amsterdam.
Quick search resulted in a 7 day stay in the Flamingo or Excalibur, including flight would be around 1300-1350 euro.
Add a $1500 buy-in and expenses like food and my guess is, it would cost me at least $4000.

Knowing myself, if I include all temptations I can't resist, I realise , in reality, it would be closer to $40000.

Maybe next year :D

Well, I live in Perth , Australia, about as far from the states as you can get.
For me to do 1 week in vegas at the Aria was $1250 AUD ($960 USD), so if you're serious about the WSOP probably increase that to as much as a month, we'll round up here and say about 4k USD should get you a month at a nice resort in Vegas, before rewards and comp cards.

Flights were $1500 AUD return, that's about $1200USD.

SPending money for the month would be around $1500usd a week I think, this is before poker, this is just for shows/food/drink/shopping. Obviously oyu can probably bring this down to about 700USD a week maybe less, but I'm going for worst case.

For the world series, you're gonan want to play in the main event, so thats 10k USD, as well as a few side events. Save close to 25k for events alone.
For cash tables, probably around 15k bankroll would be plenty here. This is going off of $1/$2 and $2/$3 table stakes. Nothing higher as you'll be playing with really bad BRM.

SO

4k for accomodation
1.2k for flights
25k for WSOP (This is if you want to do aroudn a month of the WSOP)
15k for Poker cash games
6k for spending money (way too much I think especially with comps, but better to be safe then sorry).

This comes to just over 50k USD.

This cost assumes you will never win in any cash games or place in any tournaments, and that you want to play a healthy amount of tournaments. (a few 5k/3k and the collossus and whatever else fancies you).
This also assumes that you're going to drink and eat yourself silly and buy alot of clothes and souvenirs. It also doesn't take into account comps for buffets and cheaper stays etc.
If I was to go to vegas for 1 month during the WSOP, this is how much I'd bring.

I think he is talking more about going for a week or 2 and playing in 1 WSOP event - not the main event. And not staying at a place as pricey as the Aria. ;)

Also going to play poker so no shows etc. Poker estimate is assuming you will play a variety of 8-9 tournaments.

But really difficult to give an estimate without knowing where you are coming from.

Assuming your flight is $1k (wouldn't be that much from some places) and your stay was 10 nights - I would say you could do something like this:

$1000 - flight
$900 - room
$3000 - tournaments
$800 - food and misc

$5700

I have been plenty of times - this is very doable - or could even spend less on tournaments if you play one WSOP $1k and then the rest are all smaller buy-ins.

Wanting to and being able to afford to don't always match up. ;)

I have gone to Vegas every summer for at least 5 years have never played in the main event. $10k is way too much money to put into one event. I usually play about $5-6k worth of tournies and only 2 are WSOP events - the Ladies and the Little One for One Drop.

I would love to play in it - but not going to be silly and put all of my money into 1 tournament. :)

Of course. I %100 agree. You need a significant bankroll if you're willing to throw $10k into a tournie.

Obviously the side events have plenty of action and really good pay structures as well. Win a side event and then buy into the main ;) ahah.

Where do you stay for cheap? I got quotes on a few places and Aria actually came up cheaper then Mandalay Bay which shocked me.

I used to stay at the Aria and the Venetian/Palazzo a lot - but now I stay where I can stay for free - if it is a reasonable place.

This year I am at Bally's for my first 3 nights, my timeshare the next 5 and at the Rio the last 5.

Total cost - $143 :)

Total Rewards is the best reward program if you want to earn free nights. I have never stayed at the Rio or Bally's - hoping they live up to my standards lol.

Thanks very much! I was wanting Aria mainly because a few people at my local casino play there and swear by it. Both for the tournaments and the level of skill from the players.

I love the Aria and their rooms are amazing - but they cost me $79 a night plus a $25 resort fee and even more on the weekends - it is hard to do that when I can stay free at other places.

If you can afford it I highly recommend it.

ok lets see how much i would expect to pay for the Vegas Holiday.(5night)
travel 100 bucks for gas round trip 5 hours each way from house to casino.
call up life long friend get my rooms comped.
at least 100 bucks a day to eat so many places with good food.
$700 other expenses if that much.
put a $ cap on starting bankroll.(may vary)
ive also just drove up to Vegas played cash game for 8 hours or so and turned around and came back home. this was a lot easier when i was younger.
total
$1,300 plus bank roll for 5 night stay.
drive time could differ depending on how many watering holes i stop at lol.
