cardschat hello friends this is a very interesting topic that you like it or not the variance is a subject that is incumbent upon us all who we are dedicated to playing poker suppose that we are pulling a coin in the air betting against a friend. You're playing face and your friend plays cruz. By all it is known that the probability that face out or leave cross is 50%, so that eventually (after thousands of releases) neither will win or lose money. However, if we only tiráramos coin 4 times, may 4 out side, or 3 out cruz and 1 face, and thus a multitude of possibilities.

The fact that the event most likely to (i.e., that half the time out face and half cross) does not comply in a small number of releases is known as "variance".

I would like to give me your opinion and tell me if the variance partly affects your game, or what have you been playing poker not apply the variance in your game

Poker is a high variance game

:) :D ;)
This is the effective completion of all Realities of Poker. Poker is a game of luck and skill, but in the short term, luck runs, so in the short term the results will be extremely distorted. Combine this with the fact that the advantage of good players is very small, and the result is that the winning players will have almost as many losers as winners sessions! In fact, a winning player may have even more losing than winning sessions, if the player is willing to close your session when you lose a certain value.
Imagine players from $ 20- $ 40 limit hold'em described before, making an average of $ 40 per hour. In a 6-hour session, he can expect to about $ 240, which is about the average size of the pot! It is not difficult to see how the result of one or two pots can turn a winning session in a losing session and vice versa. Some losing sessions, and suddenly you find yourself in a downswing while some winning sessions indicate an upswing. Only after you play thousands and thousands of hands you can look at the aggregate result of all these upswings and downswings and analyze the long-term trend.
One final note "Understanding and accepting the Realities of Poker. "
You need to understand the realities of the 5 poker, but the most important is that you accept them. For example, there is no sense in understanding the large presence of the element of luck in the short term and then later complain that you lost 40 big bets in one session.
A good player understands the realities of poker and then accept them, with the knowledge that is the very nature of plays that will help you be successful.
Or being more clear, if you do not like it, do not play.:deal: :deal: :deal:

you have a half-misunderstanding of variance as it applies to poker
variance is more than just luck swings, it also has to do with how much you can win or lose during those swings in relation to the stakes you are playing

example - in a game with blinds of $1/$2
***if the game is no limit texas holdem you can lose $100's of dollars on a hand where you are expected to win 75% of the time, and win $100's on a hand that has a 0.2% win rate before the river.
***if the game is limit holdem, you can not win or lose that much money in comparison to the limits - therefore limit holdem has less variance than no limit

this is just one example, there are many

lots of people consider variance the same as luck, when the fact is, though luck is a key factor, it is only one force which drives the variance of a game - in reality luck is in every game, and actually affects limit games more than no limit because more people see more streets because its cheap, and more often than not correct to do with whatever draw they may have, therefore more outdraws, but limit games have the least variance of all the structures (limit, pot limit, and no limit)

just a thought

In probability theory and statistics, variance is the expectation of the squared deviation of a random variable from its mean, and it informally measures how far a set of (random) numbers are spread out from their mean, The variance has a central role in statistics. It is used in descriptive statistics, Statistical inference, hypothesis testing, goodness of fit, Monte Carlo sampling, amongst many others. The variance is the square of the standard deviation, the second central moment of a distribution, and the covariance of the random variable with itself, and it is often represented by σ² or Var(X).
