re: Poker & What has shallow stack done to me ?
Tight may not be optimal at the micros in terms of winning the most money possible, but it is a winning style. The trade-off, which may be worth it or not depending on individual preference, is lower variance than playing a lot of hands.
As a simplification, if you sit there playing tight, people will find ways to give you money through their poor and mediocre plays. To be a winner, all you have to do is not give all of it back. There are downsides to this too though. One is that it's dull.
