I was wondering what pokersoftware the frequenters of cc own.
Myself, I've bought the following software: (payed for by poker profits I made)

- PokerTracker
- PokerACE HUD (Displays stats on the table)
- Calculatem (odds calculator)
- IdleMiner (To fill the pokertracker database, so I have stats to display using pokerace).

calculatem worth it?

Very good for rookies.

Of some use to us old hands also, though hardly essential. Figures your outs and pot odds quicker than you can do it yourself (especially three hours into a tourney, when you are getting kind of dopey) and gives you maximum time to consider your move.

isnt datamining illegal?

It does contravene the TOS at some sites. I don`t do it personally.

Anyone use these at bodog? I ask because the hand histories look a lot different then the more popular sites, i.e. stars, ftp.

I hardly use calculatem. In that sense I've wasted the dollars on it... but it does gives pretty accurate odds. Useful if you're in a lot of multiway pots.

I tend to play the player more often than the cards, though. So PokerTracker in combination with PokerAce HUD is more useful for me.

Unless I've missed a recent update, PokerTracker only works on bodog ring games, not tournies. And you need the DogWatch handgrabber to make it work as I recall.

Can`t post the links here, it`s against forum rules. That`s what Google is for. :)

The three main ones mentioned here (Poker Tracker, Calculatem Pro, and Poker Office) can all be obtained at a big discount (or even free) if you search around among the promotional deals available, which usually involve opening a new account at a sponsoring poker room.

Using Calculatem myself....

I would like to know if any of the data is collected and used by them!!!

Apart from that, i 2 find it rather useful when you are playing a tourney for 3-4 hours.

ummm

why bother with gadgets, thats not poker and its not fun

why wouldn't you want to take every advantage you can at a table, the object is to win the money.

everything you see online people use is used live also.

pokertracker and pokerace hud just help you take notes on players stats and you can do that live also. You dont think pros watch each other play before sitting down at big stakes at them. They know how much they see preflop (vpip), how much they raise preflop (PFR) etc.

when I play live I take a notebook, guess in your eyes thats not poker since I have a notebook.

so to summarize it is poker and if I want to have fun I will join a $3 rebuy but for the big stakes I will stick to my "gadgets".

I have been using Poker Office for a little over a year now and love it. Very simple to use. The HUD is built in so you don't need any any of the add-ons that Poker Tracker needs. It's just much simpler for me to use. It does display pot odds, outs, etc... with the HUD. I don't really rely on it that much because it doesn't take implied odds and reverse implied odds into account, as well as hidden outs. I'll glance at it from time to time though when my brain starts to go to mush. :)

For the simple minded like me it works.
