What has poker done for me ?
My bank account is about the same. But recently I was reading my old posts in the forum and I noticed something scary, about my level of english :D
So proudly I can say that thru poker I have learned the english language much easier than i did in school !

My native language is Spanish - I think you are doing great.

For those that speak english, think how hard it would be to join a forum in Russian or Spanish. This is what non-native speakers face, please don't ridicule them if their first post is "do you speak spanish on this forum" (translated)

Poker keeps the mind sharp, and it also passed the time when I could not walk for 5 months with a broken foot.

I was not trying to ridicule him. I just assumed it wasn't his native language when he mentioned something about learning English easier by visiting forums and playing poker then he did in actual English classes.

I always think that one of the unintended consequences of UEIGA, and Black Friday, is the huge slowdown in spreading the English language. This in turn propagates worldwide misunderstandings and thus discord which often ends in war.

Some time in the future, linguistic historians will mark the period of 1995 - 2010 as the period where the English language spread the fastest. Thewy will connect that spread with the spread of the internet, but I wonder if they will make the connection between the UEGIA, and Black Friday being the cause of the end of that spread.:confused:

No its the fact that if you look at the world as a whole, the amount of people who play internet poker is negligible

dj11 what you're talking about has nothing to do with english as universal language. The reason most countries have english in their back pocket is because the windows is in english. If Bill Gates was Chinese we all might speak chinese :))

Poker is a truly international game and brings lots of different nationalities together. I have made many friends from all over the world playing poker friends I would never had made if I did not play poker.

Yes it's brought the Dacians and Celts back together, although most europeans are descended from or were conquered by the Norsemen who merely wanted to settle but were often called vikings.

So what else has poker done for us.

Poker for me has had it's share of ups and downs. I have had some runs where I felt like a god. I have had others that made me feel super dejectng . I am slowly learning that I need to use better BRM, as I feel this is the only thing holding me back from being great. Poker has taught me a lot.

I use poker to sometimes unwind from a busy day at work, but usually it just puts me in a worse mood then I was in before, I'm thinking poker may not be for me even at the recreational level I play at. Perhaps after I spend my roll I may just give it up.

As someone who knows a fair bit about language politics, policy and planning I can say that this was the plan all along, yes, and they decided poker was the way to do it. It was the Norwegians that started this shit.

In my opinion this topic is not for this forum section! It was necessary to spread in "Players' Lounge"
But it does not matter!
I am a novice player (playing a couple of months) and as long as, respectively, did not reach any results! However, I have plans ...

My English, wants a major improvement, and I hope CC will give me that opportunity!
Amazingly, this game brings together so many people of different nationalities!

And it is wonderful
