What music do you listen to while playing??

I know while I play and listen to music, that there are certain bands/songs that I feel don't detract from my play and actually assist in keeping me focused. What I want from this thread is not to be a I listen/don't listen to music thing, just simply if you do what bands, or songs do you enjoy. Feel free to list or explain why.

1. The Black Keys- every album, mostly Magic Potion though. (my favorite band of all-time)

2. The Beatles- Songs like Don't Let me Down, Hey Jude, etc. Every now and then I'll play the last part of Abbey Road.

3. Damien Rice- Delicate (sometimes you gotta slow it down.)

4. Bob Dylan- pretty much anything. New fav is It's All Over Now Baby Blue. (has the line the highway is for gamblers better use your sense/ take what you have gathered from coincidence.) So great!!

5. White Stripes- I am a fan of De Stihl, but this is another band that I can listen to any song and still enjoy. Been loving A Martyr for My Love for You lately.

6. Wilco- Great band, really enjoy the album Sky Blue Sky, check out Hate it Here, its good.

7. The Strokes- I listen to You Only Live Once way too much.

8. Dr. Dog- Amazing band, reminds me alot of The Beatles. Check out Ain't it Strange, Die, Die, Die, or I've got to tell you.

9. Red Hot Chili Peppers- Another one of my favorite bands, mostly their stuff from Californication on up, but I listen to alot of their older songs too.

10. Peter Bjorn & John- Fairly new band, Old Folks, Up Against the Wall, and the rest of the album are great.

11. Paul McCartney- His new album is alright I love Mr. Bellamy.

12. Paolo Nutini- A real young gun (younger than me!!!!), great album really singer songwriter stuff, nothing too amazing but I really like him.

13. Of Montreal- crazy trippy sound, keeps things lively at ring games for me, a healthy band to listen to.

14. Matt Pond PA- I don't know what I like about these guys so much, its more singer/songwriter stuff, and really nothing special. I just really feel it for some reason.

15. Interpol- Keeps me real calm and relaxed, in large quantities makes me too relaxed though.

i WAS watching THE wsop h.o.r.S.E. ANd HEllmuth WAs busting out with some JAY-z DAt THrew me oFF. But if he's actually listening to dat while hE plaYs; wow just moved up ANOTHER notch. no im NOt a BIG jay-z Fan, i do like him and all BUt for HEllmuth to BE mentioning him in a RAp..... WOW!

I think that if you are a poker player who watches his opponents and pays attention to whats going on in the game every hand you do not have headphones attached to your head or even near you. I think it is a total distraction, ive seen many of times in real play and on tv were something or someone messes up because of verbal announcements.

Im not a music while playing poker hater but i personally think that you couldnt do as well if you had those headphones on!

I play my best while listening to old school thrash, stuff like megadeth, old metallica, anthrax...

Now, you ever try listening to something like Sabbath Cheezy????

Recently, I've been listening a lot to Bjork and Imogen Heap. It depends on my mood and what I feel like listening to, though.

Tight you mix it up. Dashboard would mellow me out alot. Blink would be awesome too. Wish I could handle mixing it up, as it stands right now it kills my game. I'm a one artist at a time guy.

I'm actually listening to the Cranberries at the moment. Can't believe it took me this long to really find them.

I love the Cranberries. Very nice.

My "poker music" is very select genres, I often find myself listening to XM Radio's: '80's', 'The Heart', or 'The Blend' while on the tables, however off the tables I like to change it up with a bit of everything!

I Find The Eagles Pretty Good For Poker

techno.. it is soooo relaxing. or instrumentals : )

I tried listening to things I like, and it distracts me.

If I listen to classical, I actucally tend to block it, and focus more on the game.

seeing as agression is key to being a good poker player, I'd suggest listening to some angry music.

Drowning pool (Bodies)
Disturbed (down with the sickness, voices)
Slipknot (spit it out)

Honestly who can listen to some slipknot and not what to reraise some fool with half your stack?


Then listen to some disturbed and watch people fold pocket aces pre flop when you get involved in the action.

Summoning keeps me calm and patient (in that "Zen" like statement, if you will). Usually I'll stick with SUmmoning if I need calming, but if not then usually just anything else (Been listening to a lot of Vader, Trauma, and Aborted lately).

I have a simple step by step guide to my listening habits whilst at the tables.

1 - Open iTunes
2 - Click Party Shuffle
3 - Click Play
4 - Enjoy!

I have 22gb of music mainly of the punk rock variety but I also have really random stuff from old school rap up to modern techno so I find a variety helps me out!

I have been listening to lots of NOFX recently though - mainly because I am going to see them tonight though, I can't wait!

I have a little of everything on my ipod. I will listen to anything from Lil Jon, Nickelback, to Conway Twitty. When i feel i am forcing to much i will slow it down with some old country or motown. When i am pumped playing good i will listen to some rock or rap.

Classic Rock...Journey...Beatles....Alman Brothers...and every once in a while ill put on some Lil Wayne

I pretty much just put on my itunes and let it shuffle through. Every once in a while I do decide to switch it up and listen strictly to Tom Petty.
