I normally play tournaments but this week I've been playing $0.25/$0.5 Cash Games on Stars, and they seem very beatable. Do they get a lot harder when you play $0.5/$1 or $1/$2?

Yes they do. 100nl is significantly harder than 50nl, and 200nl is significantly harder than 100nl.

It's not that there are significantly less fishes, but the regs become much better as you move up. Mostly much more aggressive. So if you don't adjust properly, whatever money you take from the fishes you will donate to the better regs.

On the other hand, rake becomes relatively cheaper as you get to the $3 cap for all big pots, and that means you need less of an edge to profit.

same for limit games... when the pots are just big enough to cover the max rake, it kills your bottom line. this is also the point at which the skill level seems to jump the most imo

Well for PLO I regularly play .25/.50 right now, but I have jumped into the .50/$1 rooms occasionally and YES the game is much harder.

Belgo is spot on when he talks about the regs being that much better.
