What happens when you move house and try to play on a poker site you played at from your old address? Won't you have a different IP address from your new location - and won't this set off alarm bells at the poker site?

Or is it just a question of emailing the site's customer service department and letting them know you'll be playing from your new address?

Not much I dont think, I say that because I quite often log into various poker sites from other ppls houses and use my account to play cash games, But if you shift house you have to notify them of a change of address anyway.

I thought if you accessed your poker account from a different IP address it set off all sorts of alarm bells in the site's security department...

Maybe I got it wrong.

I do it often and haven't heard a thing.
And at some ppls houses if they dont play poker and they haven't got the software, I download the software set it up, log in play then delete the software.

Move a house? You might need a huge crane or something.

I log in from different IP's quite a bit when I am travelling - I have never notified them and it has never been an issue.

Just the opposite, they don't do a thing. They might use it later if there were an actual investigation into anything, but otherwise people do it all the time.

What I would like to see is an option to restrict access to your account to your own IP address, and you'd have to send them an e-mail with a week's notice or a different password or something when you know you are going to play from somewhere else.

i have played online a few times at my sisters house using my log in information. always been able to get on without a problem. i guess playing online while attending family functions is wrong but it sure beats listening to the relatives.

It's not a problem. They enjoy you paying rake from any IP.

well if you change your address in your cashier for deposit and withdrawal purposes, then they will see that and possibly understand without being alarmed.

Yeah, I suppose rake doesn't discriminate - the poker sites are happy no matter where it comes from...

I have moved a couple times and I just changed my address in my account details and never had a problem.

Like Gunslinger said, it is probably tracked but only used in the case of an investigation and I suspect it is only a prob if you are logging in from diff IPs far away from each other OFTEN... yanno like someone else playing your account or something like that... I mean if you log in from say Florida one minute and from ireland the next... well... that might be wierd, and cause for some bells to be ringing... LOL

I am sure you are fine. :)
