i notice all sites have the number, etc and they have commercials, other than that ive never heard of any such thing. There is no place where i live within 100 miles but i think i might need help, free help

im thinking about giving up cards for awhile. Im broke and playing with money i shouldn't be playing with. I owe over ten grand to credit cards, got laid off, bad credit , nobody will hire me, I just built 5 bucks to 800 and then lost it all in 30 minutes. Not sure how it happened. It happened so quick. Bad thing is, if you ask some people, not this forum but on 2 other forums im a member of, they will say i might be the best player on the net period.

I dont have pacience to play freerolls and been going all in on the first hand lately so not sure whats wrong with me.

I really want to make fun of you for the best player on the net comment...but your main point is about getting help for a gambling problem. Good luck with that, have you called those numbers from the sites, is that how you know there is no help nearby?

just type in gamblers anonymous and the city where u live. You will find a number for a local chapter as for what goes on there well im not sure but i would bet its alot like AA so its anonymous for a reason what is said and happens there stays there.Good luck one piece of advice would be to cut your credit cards up and most online sites will allow u to prohibit yourself from playing if your having problems.

Self Discipline.

You have to understand your limitations and know when to at the very least step back.

Bank Roll Management. Know what levels you should be playing and don't over step them.

Know when you just need to lay down something cause it's not good for you.

Honestly to me it sounds like you were hard up for cash, saw a chance at some easy money, took a shot and went down hard. I'm not sure of your situation but I can tell you that is the wrong way to look at this game.

Poker and all gambling should only be done if you can lose the money. If thats not the case, then you have no business playing with it. I hate to sound like this but you need to man up and get your act together. If your trying to play cards to settle debts that's the absolute wrong step here. If you want to keep playing you have to remember its just a game, and you have to be able to walk away from a table when you feel you might not be able to play your best due to a big loss/finance pressure/ other concern.

If you honestly believe you lack the self discipline to limit your own play, then I strongly recommend getting help. It might seem like I'm calling you weak or something for not being able to handle the problem yourself, but handling it with the help of someone else is an infinitely smarter move than failing at handling it yourself.

Your best bet is to stop, go find some help, take a long, long break then see where you stand.

Until you find your feet on the ground and your well out of debt then maybe you should consider playing again but honestly, your going to get alot worse off if you try to recoup through a Casino or Poker in this case, they prey on that situation.

Take whatever job you can get and just work your tail off trying to get above water again, i hope things work out for you, please keep away from any form of gambling though i promise it won't be a happy ending, hard work and a strong will should get ya through, turn that shit around sir.

-bankroll management 101 - learn it
-time management - if you need to make x dollars a day/week you have to find a way to do it - either work more hours and/ or spend less

SELF CONTROL - dont drink if youre driving, dont drink when you gamble, dont gamble if you cant afford to lose..
- if you cant have just one beer dont drink...
- if you bet higher stakes to win back what you lost then
dont play..
obviously you need money - and dont have patience to grind it out

i think the only thing that is wrong with u is that u are bored and u really need a break ,do some of the things that u used to do play something else like a sport in fresh air and then after a while u will re-discover the beauty of the game that is called poker!until u do that believe me u stand no chance before the players that are playing for fun and extra money!

Don't be an enabler, This man needs to talk to someone (other than another poker player)

They have the ability to freeze your accounts on PokerStars and Full Tilt. Start there and work with someone who isn't a poker player. Seriously, freeze your accounts. You'll hate it but in the longrun you will be thankful for my advise.

Do your family and friends know the situation you are in? You're going to need to talk to them about this. They are the one who will help you get through it.
