When I logged on to CC today, there was a note saying that I haven't posted in 2 or 3 weeks and asking me to maybe drop a post on the forum. Here goes....
After playing tournaments almost exclusively at bodog for the past 5 or 6 years, I've recently switched to PS for the bigger selection and bigger paydays. What a difference. The games are infinitely more challenging. Now I have yet to FT in any tournament with more than 120 people or so, but I have had quite a few with top 1, 2 or 3% finishes. While it feels great to finish say 36th in a field of 1700 or so, it does take a long time(4 hours) and I think I got $125 in that $11 rebuy. Today I finished 46th out of 1333 in a 12K guaranteed $5 rebuy for $43 after 4.5 hours.
At Bodog I had notes on everyone. When I started at PS, I had no notes and my early results showed it. Now my tables are lit up like Broadway with different colored borders encircling many players names indicating I have notes on them. With the increase of more familiar players came an increase in finishes also.
I havent shown an actual profit yet despite some strong finishes. Because of all the games they offer and how long each game lasts, I have been dabbling in multi-tabling. I am beginning to realize that at my age (57), it is harder to keep the focus needed for me to succeed. So I would have a strong finish at 1 table and then lose it at another table simultaneously. In my case, I think multi-tabling actually DECREASES variance.
So to wrap up, I am very happy at PS. I am going to keep taking notes and play only one tournament at a time. Hopefully, I will be able to hold on to my winnings and stop seeing them come in one hand and out the other.
Man, I can smell that long green on these FTs at PS and it gets stronger everyday.
