I played poker for fun here and there on facebook. But never really took it seriously, until my friends started regularly playing home games. I wanted an edge for bragging rights, so I read "Harrington on Hold'em" and "Reading Poker tells". I also watched almost every episode of Jason Somerville's run it up series on youtube. From there I became passionate about poker. What sparked your poker passion?

Watching my buddies win a lot of money in it, so I thought it would be easy money too. Well I was wrong poker is tough, but extremely enjoyable. So what got me into poker was the money, but now it's mostly for the love of the game.

I started playing because I was bored and a friend of mine was making some money playing . So I searched for some no deposit bankrolls, played a few, lost it all. After a while I started playing more seriously and now I'm a -addict playing several hours a day

Basically I have seen my brother to play poker online one day and because I was bored in that moment I downloaded my first poker software which was unibet, registered and start playing some freerolls there. It quickly became my hobby and still is.

I was invited to a home game during the height of poker boom. Thinking this as a social venue, I joined looking for a few laughs and to drink a few beers. I was happy to lose my entry into the weekly freezeout until . . . someone said something derisive about my play. I thought, "I'm not even trying." As a result, I began to take the game more seriously, with favorable results. :eating:

Cheers!

I started playing on Facebook. After a few months of that I made a small deposit and started playing for money. The possibility of winning good money from playing a game I enjoy is appealing ☺

Was pretty popular to play in school at breaks.. My brother taught me the game, and when I realized it was pretty easy to profit (1$ was HUUUGE cash back then) I got hooked :) Sadly it took about 5 years before I could play online.

My brothers and mother introduced me to poker games when I was a kid as a way of socializing and as a form of entertainment. I grew up back in the 40s and 50s, and I had 11 brothers - our poor Mother. haha:) My brothers and I would play cards and listen to the radio for hours. We played all types of card games but, among the boys, different poker games were our favorite (Mom liked Hearts, Gin rummy, and Pinochle). With 11 of us, there was always a full table at home. haha Every generation is both different and in some ways similar. My kids grew up using TV and the radio for entertainment and as a past time. Their kids grew up with TV and the internet. So, now it's come full circle with internet poker, as younger members of my family and myself often play online these days for entertainment and as an occasional past time.

I play a lot of different card games online and in real life. There were a couple of people I met playing online euchre (in a league/club) who got me started. One night about 10 years ago, we were kind of bored with the games going on and decided to try something different. They talked me (and a couple other newbies) into playing on Pokerstars, with play chips and gradually moved on to real money games. It took me awhile to get on to the game, through alot of patience and perserverance from my friends AND me. It's only over the past couple years, I have become more interested in improving with the game, when time permits.

I grew up in a poker playing family as a kid my cousins and I would watch our fathers and uncles playing a variety of poker games the main one being Manila it is very similar to NL Texas Holden, except the board cards are dealt out 1 at a time, and you must use both hole cards to make a hand, and bets can be made on each street, my cousins and I would often play 5 card draw poker just for fun as we were kids we had no money.

We kept doing this most weekends when all the family would meet up at someone's house, then when the cousins and I were older and had money we would have a weekly game at one of our own houses, that went on for years and as we get older and had kids we drifted apart and I started to play online.

I have always loved to play card games as a child and a few years ago I had Sky and they had a channel called "The Poker Channel" I loved to watch Barny Boatman (I think that was his name) go to people's houses to play some poker. This one house in England (can't remember where?) played games like she was running a casino in her house, obviously she didn't have a roulette table and she only focused on poker games. I was just learning about Texas Hold'em which they were playing, it was soooo fun to watch, they mixed up the games and she said "Now we are going to play Omaha H/L I was like, WTF is that :D That was the best episode on that channel, so wish it never got pulled off Sky.

A few years later I decided to join Pokerstars and played play money games, and I was winning a lot, I thought to myself damn I'm good as I got my play money to about $30,000 from just playing ring games. I then started to play some freerolls and thought this is crazy everyone is shoving on their first hand  I only made a few cents here and there, but I was still made up that I cashed :D

Then 2 years ago, I joined the best forum, that showed to me all those years ago that I didn't win play money cos I was good, I was infact a donk and since joining CC I have made a nice BR starting with freerolls and just playing micros. I am so glad that I watched "The Poker Channel" and also really glad that I joined CC the best poker forum ever!!!!

Sorry about the rant :)
