I've seen so many different ways that people use to calculate the odds of hitting their outs. Curious as to what formula everyone prefers.
Let's keep it to the simple formulas that you can do in your head in a few seconds not the complex stuff online players may use with a calculator in front of them LOL :p

the 4 and 2 rule is what i use. Multiply outs by 4 on the flop and then by 2 on the turn to get a rough idea of percentages. Its really quick and easy.

For months I would go and replay the hand in a hand calculator and eventually just started to memorize my winning percentages. This may not be exactly what you are looking for but the point is after you play enough hands you should start to get a good feel for it without doing any calculations.

Speaking of hand calculator, the calculator I use after a hand is always completely different than the 4x2 I use at the table.

Second this. However if the opponent is aggressive i'll just multiply by 2 on the flop for my odds of hitting on the turn.

Also, if you have position then i will often call a passive opponent above my percentage call to see if i can push him off if he checks the turn.

search google for poker odds
Print out a sheet and stick next to monitor:)

For live tables 4 2 rule is the easiest.

If you want to calculate it properly Bad Cards/Good Cards e.g.
On the flop 2 hearts and you have 2 hearts in your hand so you know 5 out of 52 cards.
9 more hearts left so 47 cards of which 38 are bad 9 are good so 38/9 = 4.22/1
If you want the probability then 47/9 which is 1 in 5.22

4 and 2 here as well! People are impressed when you give the percentages before ESPN and can sound like a real pro :p

4 n 2 - although, there's a few different percentages I've simply memorized. Actually, I've been playing offline at work with a free downloadable Texas Holdem game called PokerTH from PokerTH.net.

After you're dealt cards, you can click a tab and see in realtime your odds as a percentage of hitting certain hands. The more I play that at work, the more I've been able to just memorize the chance of hitting certain hands.
