Poker is a way for me to use my logic along with quasi-calculated risks to win some money. It is and will always be just a part time hobby. I've always been quiet guy and I'm quiet at the tables as well, but sometime silence can be deadly.
Sometimes it's playing the 1/2 live game at the track, sometimes it's about taking a shot at the 2/5. Not many 'happy' faces at the table, but I'm not here for the social interaction. I'm here to make some money. Some good nights, some bad.
Recently, it's also a great way to schedule time to workout on my exercise bike. One hour a night multitabling turbo DONs. Laptop fits nicely on the book rack on the bike. DONs are very low variance, low risk, slow steady rewards. Almost imppossible not to be +EV. After a sedentary decade, I've finally decided to loss the weight, eat right and get healthy. I've lost 40 pounds in last 4 months playing poker AND I'm making money... about 25 more pounds to go.
But my favorite poker game
is the semi-regular one with the neighbors every other Friday night or so. A few fast SNGs with the boys, but poker is really secondary. A table full of smiling, laughing beer drinking guys blowing off some steam and having a great time. I always make sure I am never more than a break even player at these games.
