As long as there is gender testing as i dont think its fair that trans can play as both sexs .

Because it is a mental game, I do not believe that there will be gender separation, because it would be prejudiced to imply that women are less capable than men, do not you think?

Poker probably will never be an olympic sport, and honestly really shouldn't. Those are reserved for real sports and challenges. The same goes for e-sports. Not saying there shouldn't be any competitive organizations, such as we already have, just that it doesn't qualify as an olympic sport.

I agree that it runs away from the roots of the Greek Olympics, but just like chess and e-sports, Poker is in analysis for the next Olympics.

Poker will never be a sport, let alone an Olympic one.

People insist on saying "NEVER" around the world. The incredible we live in an information age.

Poker is a sport of mind since 2009, recognized worldwide.
And as implied in the first post, as well as chess, poker is in analysis for a possible entry into the Olympics.

In my opinion, to include a card game in the Olympic Games is nonsense. From time immemorial these games revealed physical strength and endurance, and not mental abilities. Too much in our time has been mixed up, but to mock the event like the Olympic Games is blasphemy !!! I love poker, I play poker, but excitement does not belong in such important events.

I understand what you mean and I respect your opinion.

Think about target shooting...

Archery...

But do not you involve mental strength and mental toughness when playing poker?

Poker does not need the Olympic Games. Hundreds of thousands of players compete daily. Yes, this is my opinion

I understand your opinion and respect.

But in my view, with the entry of poker in the Olympics, it will be banning the rest of the prejudice that is still around the game.

There is no way that poker will or shoyuld become an olmpic sport. There are some legitimate sports that should be in the Olmpics and they cannot even get there.

Why do you think that?

I consider poker only a 'card game' with strategy/luck (together or not), is not eligible to participate of Olympic Games. What a kind of Olympic Games can you just win only with luck?

Well, that's why the modality will be Match.

The Olympic slogan "faster higher stronger" could be play faster , bet higher and have a stronger hand. But being in the Olympics is just wrong. still you never know anything is possible. And the gold medal goes to brianj cue the national anthem lol

Unfortunately, Poker still suffers from many prejudices in world society. I believe that with this "final" step our beloved sport will be recognized as it deserves.

And you, what do you have to say about it?
Poker is not a sport - poker is a way of life, life in miniature. You can not make it an Olympic sport.

Poker at the olympics

Hi There,

I cannot honestly see the ancient gods of Greece playing a hand of Texas hold em. Olympics for me has to involve some form of tradition, whilst the various Olympic committees are voting in new sports..i do not see how poker can be regarding as a sport let alone an Olympic event. I think its time for some common sense..otherwise it devalues the essence of what made the Olympics truly historical :)

Will the I.O.C. be incorporating some different drug testing for the Poker 'athletes'? I would think they'd need to be focusing mostly on the detection of cocaine & possibly viagara ('hookers & blow')... at least from previous winning players that is.

It's a thought for that to happen, but like others have said, it's a different type of game, different category. I love watching the winter olympics and love playng poker. Nice thought, though.

Search, use this little thing called Google. You will discover that poker is a world-renowned sport since 2009.
