I am a driver, I drive 12 hours a day and this month they extended to 15 hours. I arrive home so tired that I can not play a hand and I finish badly spending my little bank. poker helps me to relax, not to think about the everyday, but this month for not stopping on time knowing that I was not in a position to play attentively to break my bank. now to return from 000 it becomes heavy. What do you recommend?
With driving 15 hour days, how do you even find the time to play poker?
Truck drivers here in
canada are limited to how many hours they are on the road, for safety reasons.
After a period of at least eight hours off-duty, a driver cannot drive more than 13 hours. After a period of at least eight hours off-duty, a driver cannot drive after having been on-duty for 14 hours. After a period of at least eight hours off-duty, a driver cannot drive after 16 hours has elapsed.
I don't know about other countries safety regulations but I believe Canada has some of the best safety regulations in the world, but I could be wrong.
if the above is a little confusing as I had found, here is a better explanation I c/p from a truck drivers forum.
13 hours to drive - Max
14 hour day - Max (can be 16 hrs with 2 hrs Off Duty)
to do your driving in, pre trip, fueling, loading, unloading and other daily routines associated with on duty status
10 hours off duty
You can take up to two hours off duty during your day to count towards your 10 (1/2 hour minimum breaks),
example - 1/2 hr breakfast 1/2 hr lunch 1 hr dinner
(the total of 2 hours off duty does not count towards your 14)
8 hrs sleeper berth + 1/2 + 1/2 + 1 = 10
If you take more than 2 hours off during the day lets say you show 5 hours off, IT DOESN"T MATTER, the extra 3 hours count towards your 14 hour day.
As for recommendation: Play only on your days off.
I work 10-12 hours a day 6 days a week during the summer and only play poker on my days off.
