Seems as though this past week or so has been super tough on me every time i go to my local poker room. I started off the month by chopping a 30 person tourney and making about 350$ give or take, and then had a few small hits here and there (never walked away negative, always positive about at least 2 times a week) then in the middle of the month i ended up winning a tourney and a good amount on the side cash games one night profiting a good 700$ roughly. Felt good to be doing so well, now this week comes around and it seems like i cant even hit a flop with a hammer. Just pouring back in money and nothing i can do to help it. Granted one night i was playing and should not have because i was not feeling well, but the other 3 nights ive been there, ive been on my game 100% and still come up with felt every night. I know its not a real long streak, but i guess im just venting to see if anyone else has any simular experiences. I dont feel like my "bad luck" is effecting my play, i still feel like i am playing my cards as well as i can, but it just seems like lady luck is takin a piss on me this week.

anyone in the same boat? or have been and found a good way to move forward?

Continue to play a solid game, things will work out. Every player goes through these times. I used to tell people to take time off, but just play your game, its almost impossible to take time off...lol.

I primarily play in Wendover, Nevada. I was making the hour and a half drive once a week a few months back to play the 1/2 game. I had 3 trips in a row where i won $400 each time. It's a grind everytime. You basically have nothing but locals and dealers on your table. They all know how each other play, and first look at you as a fish....which ends up working in your favor if you treat it right. Anyways, i makin great money on a consistent basis, then all of a sudden, a lot like you, it just stopped my next time out. I lost $400 that night. A lot like you, i just couldnt hit a flop to save my life. Not only that, but i was just gettin absolute shit dealt to me all night. I continually had the second best hand. There wasnt a whole lot i could i felt. Just gotta roll with it and understand these periods come.

There is still theoretical long-term money to be made here. Stop being results oriented, instead rethink your thinking. Try to lose as least amount as possible. This should be your goal in obvious smack-you-in-the-face bad luck downswings. Each time you find your self in this situation try to lose less then you lost last time your luck was this bad. Just because your not winning doesn't mean you can't win!!!

When I go on losing streaks I take a break. I play bad when I'm down and make bad BRM Decisions. Sometimes I'll read books (non poker books) and go for a walk every day to clear my head. Show me that it's not the end of the world If I lose in poker. There's a world outside and poker is just a very small part of it.

When im running bad i like to take a break. Spend some time with your family/friends and take time to enjoy your other things you like to do. If you cant force yourself a break, the only thing you can do is keep getting it in good. Have to remember long term always, not a bad week/month etc.

You are going to get the same advice over and over. They are right...u have to do whatever entertains you and try to lose as little as possible while on your losing streak. Patience is the only thing that will stop u from throwing the computer through a window sometimes. lol
Good Luck

To my understanding the best thing to do is to continue playing a solid game, keep reading articles/books and post hand histories for people to evaluate the bad beats you are getting so they can tell you if you went on tilt and made a mistake or was it just a cooler... eventually bad luck will leave you for a while ( and then come back when you least expect it.. lol )..

Ive found that taking a break for a week or so helps. Also, try to keep good recolections of your play and self analyze any holes you might of missed. Talking with another player about certain situations or hands just for the sake of seeing another opinion can help too. But aside from that, just play the game you're comfortable with. Nothing worse than going on a cold streak, changing things up and making things worse. Just because you're cold, dosn't mean your style isn't working, it just needs some tweaking. Good luck on getting ouy of your slump.

Sometimes when i notice that i´m playing bad, or loosing money, i´ll take a brake for a few days. Just forget everything about poker for a while, and come back stronger.

I am going through a down swing today. I have had some bad beats in a nl game. I guess I will just have to pick myself up and let them kick me around some more. They say you can't keep a good man down.

I would suggest taking atleast a few days off. Usually when im losing and keep losing I end up broke trying to get myself out of the hole I dug because I end up steaming and playing really bad hands.

If ur BR is loosing money then u can either take a break for a day or week and go back to playing tight then ur A game.
I lost $100 (not much to ppl but tis to my BR) so i took a day break then went bk to playing a tight game then back to my A game, so far so well!!
But this game is all bout luck yet skill so when u start to loose money jus get off the table! Unless ur on a table with a maniac who decides to raise to $3 with A3 when the blinds are only 0.05/0.10.

1. dont be results oriented
2. keep getting it in with the best
3. dont over analyze your play
4. try to put players on a range of hands instead of just one or two hands they could hold
5. keep working to get better
6. dont let bad beats get you down
