After sticking to the 5% rule playing 25c/50c i was stagnating and started using 10% at 50c/1$ and noticed that the play wasn't much better and started doing well. But after a few big, bad beats i realized that 10% was to much to put in any 1 game. I'm still playing 50c/1$ and doing well but now i've decided to only play with 1/15th of my bankroll as i reckon thats enough to cover any particular bad run.
Anyway i was just wondering what % people on here play with

Personally I generally follow the 5% rule as well. But it depends on a lot of things:
- Are you doing this seriously (eg. to make money) or is it just for entertainment when you can deposit again a few days from now? If you're doing it seriously, have conservative bankroll management.
- What type of a player are you/what games do you play? If you play an incredibly loose style at NLHE or PLO, you'll almost certainly want to be playing smaller games.
- Does the money mean a lot to you emotionally/financially? If you're just playing for fun every Friday night, it means a lot less than playing seriously and trying to make a living at it.

i used to play with my whole bankroll as well. i only deposited 50.00, and i wasnt willing to grind it out playing with 5% of my br, if i even could. i played with probaly 75% of my br, but luckily i took that 50.00 and built it into 1500.00. I now follow the 5% rule, however, as i find theres so many swings in poker that u must have enough money for bad beats and bad cards.

I follow the 5% rule most of the time, however Ive been playing 25 and 50NL at stars with only 100 dollars lately. Im sick of grinding out small stakes S&Gs. I don't really have fun anymore playing them, so Im just messing around with 100 dollars and atleast having fun. Im going to make a larger deposit once summer starts and grind out 25NL/50NL using the 50% rule.

5% to me in considered "safe". But you still could lose your whole BR playing great if you had 20 buyins. The chances of that happening are slim, which is why 20x buyins for each level is an ok amount.
But if your BR (like mine) really means something to you and it would be an absolute nightmare if you lost it, then I would say you probably want 50+ buyins for each level.
