I am fairly new to the online industery and have been reading about bot programs that calulate the odds, see the others cards (cheating) ect. What I am asking is what these programs actually do, are? Please help me. I am also looking at getting Wilson's Turbo Texas H. to practice hand situations and bascially get practice.

Statistic tracker thread https://www.cardschat.com/t60813-poker-trackers.html

Odds calculator thread https://www.cardschat.com/t61267-a-good-poker-calculator.html

Also, if you want to practice starting hands and even post flop hands you can check out, www.foldorraise.com. It is free. You can practice starting and post flop hands and it gives you advice on how people should play each hand. It has a little poll so you can see what others have said and done and even gives you a bunch of odds against other hands you would likely face in each situation.

Hope this helped.

Guess I forgot to answer the questions.

Bots are programs that play for sites or you. Sites use them to make the tables seem full and more users on the site than there really is. People use them in hopes of making money and not even playing a hand.

There are people who advertise programs that you overlay on the poker site window and it will show you all the players hole cards. I have never heard of any that work otherwise who would play online.

These two are considered cheating, obviously, and you would get kicked off the site if ever caught with either.

Stat trackers can keep all the stats you could ever want to know about yourself and your opponents. How often they raise, fold, check/raise, call/check, win at showdown etc. and keep all this for you. Some will even try to give you advice on how to play. I don't think they are cheating but I have played enough that I don't think I need them.

You can get a free odds calculator or some for very cheap.

I guess I'm too new to understand much of this... but why would someone want to have a program play poker for them? Isn't poker about the fun and challenge. I get irritated when I play in a tournament (mostly freerolls) and I see half the table sitting out... what fun is that?

Having a bot play for you does seem somewhat pointless to those of us who truly enjoy the game of poker. For those who are in it merely for the money, I can see some value... providing the bots actually work. All these sites are based on algorithms or an extremely long formulas that dictate what the cards will be in what order. Figuring out these algorithms is nearly impossible for most of us, so I personally still feel comfortable playing against these "bots".

Bots are all about money. Sites use them to make themselves look busy even when they are not so you are more tempted to deposit money there. People will sell bot programs to make money off of you. People use them to play poker when they are not around just to make money, they don't care who they are taking money from or how.

It seems to me that these programs are there but I don't know how prevelent they are. I meen sites would have to know a bot was playing. they could seen that player a has played in the same room same chair for 48 hours in the past two days????? I just don't see them being used that much by the main public. And if a site uses them they are potentialy loosing customers.

Sites don't use Bots. They use what is called Props. A Prop is a real person who plays with their own Money but the site pays them to play. Most sites give a 100% rake back and a few will pay hourly. The rake back usualy is the better deal.

OK so I got that but how about integrity? They get paid to play and do they get other bennifits like randomize seed numbers. Assume the site has a shuffle an seeds a random generator so it it could be predictable and target you after it profiles you. reference the quote.
" A random number generator is predictable if, after observing some of its “random” output, we can make accurate predictions about what “random values” are coming up next. ... Surprisingly, the general-purpose random number generators that are in most widespread use are easily predicted."
now you get to know what you are up against:icon_porc:p:eek:

Titans4ever seems you have some insight on this. would like to pose a question
HOW DO YOU SPOT A BOT?

For me I tried this.
1) talk to suspected bots with slang and seldom local dialect to see it they respond?
If they do not respond or give off the wall trivial response then you got a possible BOT
2) jump in low occupant tables and all of sudden you see the same users then your profiled so maybe not a bot but u are not going to win at that table

One more thing then I will shut up. Self modifying programs and profiling are the worst thing that will kill online in the US. By the very nature of the modify the politicians do not know how to make money off AI programs thus they will not pass bills to allow power. Profiled players will get sick of river and impossible wins with 2 to 3 card impossible draws. This one will kill the addicts before it kills the online poker. Hopefully people will not play once they realize this. :(

It's hard to say anything on this issue. "Sick" as me seems theme for many players. Sometimes it really seems that you are not playing with a real player, but with a computer that sees your hand, it is evident from his actions against you. In General, probably refrain from any advice on this matter.
