Most of us don't think about this very often but pretty much everything we choose to do in life is a gamble to at least some extent. Almost every Decision, every goal, and every activity tends to carry a risk.

Let's take the subject of profession as an example. You could take one of the 'safe' routes and get your 8 years of schooling at a university to become a doctor or lawyer. However, there's no guarantee that you won't drop dead of a heart attack or car accident the day after you've just received that long-awaited degree. In fact, this has happened to millions of people throughout history.

My question to you is what is the biggest gamble of your life, and did it pay off?

Your answers can be related to poker/gambling or unrelated, get creative! :D

For me, a poker game that has been going on for more than 5 years, I think that it pays off for me but not very well - I would like better, and everything else is life, I had big plans to build my business and make good conditions for my family life, but there was an accident and I became disabled and lost my entire business and everything went differently, this is how I had a game in my life, but I continue to work and sometimes play poker, and my family is with me but already without ambitious plans !

Regarding my job i am rather on the safe side. I finished my university degree and found relatively well paid (for my country) job which i like. I like to take more risks in my free time though and always look for something new and interesting. Maybe the biggest risk was my travel to Egypt entirely planned by me using public transport to travel in the country and only with one friend. It paid off very well as it was real fun and i did not see any aggression or any problems there. Everybody takes risks at some stages of their life but it is very important to plan as well as you can everything if you have such possibility. With today's global world you can find immense amount of information for just about anything if you look for it. :)

In poker playing $2000 heads up sit n gos against some really good players didnt
work out well last time next time better lol.:hahaha:

Remember playing poker one night cash game bought in for 300 euro live in casino end of night on a main table where players come all night lose their cash and go, feeder tables put more players in to it.

Stack sizes from 1000 euro to 8000 euro but anyway got myself into a turn
decision with two other players who had sets on unpaired board raising and reraising I put 2500 across the line 7500 euro in pot getting ready to put my coat on as horribly behind with nut flushdraw when all the money went in and cards where turned over but I hit my spade on river and won the pot.
That morning left casino and put 5k into a 5 year saving plan that I eventually used to get a deposit for house and mortgage when plan grew to 35k took 5 years mostly losing but when made profit banked it where could not access it.
Had fun shopping that day too new laptop new shoes 16 or 17 years ago remember it like it was yesterday.:D

Before I knew what bankroll management was, I was playing $10/$20 at my local casino, I had bought in for my case $5,000 and had $20,000 in front of me. (why I didn't leave.... who knows) A regular in the game had me covered, pre-flop the action went fold fold villain opens to $100 fold I raise to $300 fold fold villain calls. I flopped top set of Jacks on a J 2 6 rainbow board, and the reg. ships his stack I guess thinking I was gonna muck anything... I yelled CALL and he just stared at me as I tabled top set, turn came a 9 river came an Ace and he slow rolled me............. for $40,000 dollars........ He had Ace's............ worst moment of my life. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to those limits again the proper way and be better prepared for the swings. As far as life goes, I got my bachelors degree and work a comfortable job so I guess I took the safe route as far as that is concerned.

Wow! This sounds like what happened in Rounders. It's crazy that he hit a 2-outer on the river that must have been devastating. Glad to hear you recovered from such a beat.

I think my biggest bet and do not bet on anything and no one, I usually live every day as if I were the only one. I do not create expectations much less hope but I dedicate myself 100% to everything I do. but I always like to live the most exciting side of life, between the safe and the risky I will always bet all my chips in the most dangerous kakakaka

I'm very similar to you in this regard. I can't really just half-ass things that I commit my time to. I have to go 100% and really push the limits to get the full experience. I guess some of us just need to live on the edge in order to feel alive. I can definitely relate to what you're saying.

I'm not really a gambler but when I chose to pursue poker as a profession, it could have been the biggest gamble in my life. Sometimes I wish I could have been something like a doctor because the amount of hard work sometimes may feel like it wasn't worth it. But, gambling in general isn't really part of my personality. I am a very meticulous person.

Betting in bitcoin and xrp for the future (finances).

Get married and having children (infinite number of billing documents). But it certainly was worth it!

In life everything is the result of our choices from the simplest to the most complex attitudes.
We can never fail to make a decision or attitude out of fear of what might happen before it comes to an end.

I met someone online and I quit my job and moved halfway across the country to be with her. We've been married for 19 years now.

I left my job stable, to try to improve life in another city. I was able to stabilize again and in better conditions.
In poker I do not think my bets count as big bets.

What was the Biggest Gamble of Your Life?

haha It wasn't Poker based at all!!! biggest gamble was finding my self on the wrong side of the M4 Motorway in the UK obviously not in a car but on a Pizza delivery bike...lol

So I threw the bike over the Median and made it back to the junction I'd just come off!!

haha I was young had only just passed my moped test and was coming back from first solo delivery just out of town in the dark...

lol

Stop when the fun stops:eek: or when you see your pizza delivery driver in the central reservation on the motorway.
