Hi guys!

Are Weekends bad for you?

I mean,....I encounter A LOOT of people calling BIG raises with only A3 off suited or 22, etc.

I have being in sitations where I clearly have the bet hand and the other noobs win on the River (after many raises from my part)

Is it just me or weekends are a nightmare for intermediate/experienced players?

Quite to the contrary I like being called down by them.

Get used to the suckouts and look at your stats.

Most of the day they pay you off anyway.

For micro buyin MTTs I think the weekends are the shyts. You raise up 4x and get half the table flatcalling you. I think it's lame and personally don't bother to play many MTTs on the weekends (aside from priv. ones) but will play some (ie. 'DoubleDeuce' on Fulltilt).
For CashTables... weekends are great!!!

well for me it means they will call any bet any raise on the weekend...the downside is the aforementioned patience level...if it is on the blink im in trouble:)

Come on guys,

Classic Scenario on Weekends:

Hero at the bottom. UTG Folds, 2nd player limps in, 3rd player limps in, 4th player folds, 5th player folds, 6th player limps in, Hero raises 5X with QQ, SB folds, BB Calls, 2nd Player folds, 3rd player calls, 6th player folds.

FLOP: 4, 7, J rainbow. BB limps in, 3rd player Raises 2X BB, Hero Re-raises 4X BB, BB calls, 3rd Player calls.

TURN: K. BB checks, 3rd player checks, Hero raises 4X BB, BB calls, 3rd player calls.

RIVER: A. BB checks, 3rd player raises 2X BB, Hero Calls, BB Folds

Showdown: 3rd Player wins with Two pairs: As and 7s.

This is a VERY TYPICAL Hand on a weekend.

I mean,....if the "lucky" part of the game is not with you,...you are Fuc** up.

Your bet sizing both pre and post flop is HORRIBLE.

Make it at least 6x pre and then make your bets at least 2/3 pot post. Your bad play is not the weekends fault.

What they are saying Chewie, is that you want to play against idiots. That's when you make money !! Of course the swings may be greater but as long as you always get your money in with the best hand, give them the wrong odds to call you, in the long run you will win.
You don't need luck to know that a 70% favourite is going to win 7 / 10 times.

As for your hand example, why you didnt ship it in on the flop is beyond me. If they are really willing to call an allin with just A high, then let them pay you off.
You can't let that many players stick around to suck out on you.

Yeah! It sucks playing against noobs who throw their chips around without sense and rely on pure luck! Playing against solid players who play correctly is the only way to go!

Nah. Not arrogant and plenty of advice there.

If you are looking for sympathy and sugar coating, you came to the wrong forum. Trust me. I learned that the hard way too.

wow,....So true the saying "Don''t invite a poker player to your home. He may F*** your wife".

Several times I have being called an ALL IN where I may have QQ KK, even AA and the other player won thanks to the "luck" factor.

Welcome to reality - let them suck out and think they' re great - take notes and profit from villain next time.

Do you always size your postflop bets the way you described in the hand you posted (in multiples of the bb)? If so, you're likely getting sucked out on WAY too often because you're giving your opponent great odds to keep calling.

In your example, you min raise the villains flop donk bet. Then when you bet 4bbs on the turn your opponent has to call 4bbs for a chance to win a pot of ~28bbs (+ whatever you'll pay off on the river when he hits). In his mind he could have 5 clean outs on the river (10% chance of winning) and there is a less than 0% chance that his pair of sevens is already good.

The key to poker is to cause your opponents to make mistakes. You're not doing that with your bet sizing.

Actually imo yes. I have an ROI of 40% in MTTs so I'm not a bad player, but I seem to suck against bad players and am really struggling against them.
Better players are much more predictable and easier to put on a hand, because they follow basic strategy, often too rigidly and predictably, and their plays actually make sense.
If I play at a table of players with a respectable 20% - 40% ROI I can normally kill it, but the players who I lose to are almost always ones with ROI like -50%.
Fact is all the strategies you read in books don't work against really bad players.
Am I the only player whos like this?

I have found that early in the morning on weekends, like 2-4am pacific time has been a huge benefit to me in cash games. It seems to me I am always at a table with europeans at that time and I find they are super agressive. I find if i lay back until i get a nice hand I can usually make some pretty big scores. I don find that they call big raises, but I use that to my advantage and raise with supreme hands and punish them after the flop. IF they want to call my raises with 22 or A rag offsuit. So be it, I will get them, just be patient and you should come away good.

MTT on weekends are torture for me. I always get called by way too many people in hands. Some idiot always shoves way behind in the hand and hits their miracle card on me.
